Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province in Pakistan has a rich biodiversity, hosting 98 species of mammals, 456 species of birds, and 48 species of reptiles. Notably, KPK is home to the world's largest populations of the Kashmir markhor and western tragopan pheasant, as well as all four subspecies of markhor and various species of phasianids and wild cats. This province also serves as a key staging area for migratory birds and includes the internationally recognized Palas Valley, a biodiversity hotspot.
