Wikispaces is a free web-based platform that allows teachers and students to collaboratively create and share content through wikis. Wikis enable group work and the building of shared resources in an online space. Wikispaces provides security features to protect content and is a useful tool for professional learning communities to work together and build knowledge.

Editor's Notes
Hello everyone! I have chosen the wiki as my PLC collaborative technology tool. A wiki is a website that can be edited by several people. There are many types of wiki's out there. I have chosen the wiki powered by wikispaces. The interesting thing about a wiki is that it can be free and you do not need anything other than a browser to start using it.
The purpose of the is tool is to enable group collaboration. A Group can work together at different times, in different computers, in different locations but all on one project.
This is the website address for wikispaces and this is how the website looks lilke. You will need an email address and a password to start.
After you open an account you will see something like this when you sign in with you user name and password. I opened a wiki with the intention of exploring how it could be used for me school. You can see that it is under my favorite wiki’s.If I where using this as a constant learning tool I would have more than one wiki in my list. I would then select which wiki to work on . If I select NUPOCPLC it will look like this:
These are two example of how you can arrange the wiki. You can choose to have your selections to the right or the left depending on the theme you select. . But either way the wiki provides you with the same tools.
You can edit. In this feature you can add numbers, text color, videos, calendars, modify previous text, delete text and save changes
The wiki shows you how many edits have been made, by whom and when.
You also have the ability to view what was edited. For example the text in the homepage was changed. The text that has been added is highlighted in green.
The main Tool restriction that I found was the deletion feature. You can delet sections of your wiki. It gives you a warning when you select it saying that the organizer can restore it but that if this is not done within 30 days it will be a permanent deletion.
What makes a wiki unique is what makes it vulnerable. A WikiIt can be edited by anyone. However it can be made private where only a few people can see it or edit it. You can decide that only members can view and edit. Someone can request to be part of the group or they can be invited.
To invite someone to the group you need their email address. Another nice feature is the user creator allows you to create an account for your group member without them having to all create one for themselves. Thee easier you make it for people the more apt they are to use it.
I believe that a wiki can be used to help my school make: Education Journal ReviewsStudy Guides and Exam Question CreationPlanning a PLC MeetingCreation of Syllabi
There are two pages in my wiki. The home page which tells us what projects we have to work on and then the projects we have. In order to start working on the project we have to select the page. In this case the for the syllabus. .
Here you can see that someone has posted their syllabus suggestions. This document is now ready to be edited by someone else. Who is that someone else?.
