Wikis… What are they? And why do I care?
What is a Wiki ? A Wiki is a public collaborative web document.
F.Y.I. Wiki means quick in Hawaiian.
Watch and learn… YouTube - Wikis in Plain English
How do Wikis affect me? I have created a Wiki space for Rose Hill. This space is collaborative and interactive .
It is intended to answer all those frequently asked questions about the in’s and out’s of Rose Hill. I believe it will be especially useful to the new members of our staff.
Check it out… http://rosehillinfo.wikispaces.com/
Now obviously this is incomplete and that’s where you come in. I’ve started a short list of specific topics that I think need to be addressed. My hope is that you will look at this space, add details about what you already know, and add more topics that you would like to have details about.
It won’t be hard and it won’t be scary. We all email and we all create documents on the computer. Since we all already know how to edit and save , we’re really we’re just applying these skills in a new way .
Navigating the Rose Hill Wiki is easy. Here’s how… In your address bar type http://rosehillinfo.wikispaces.com/ Read the info. Click the “edit this page” button to add or edit. Click the “save” button when you’re finished. Now your changes are public and we can all benefit from them.
Just a few things to remember and then we’ll practice together. Wikis are new to most of us, including myself. So if you already know everything there is to know, be patient with the rest of us. We’re all learning and we all make mistakes.
For everyone’s convience, I’ve made our Rose Hill Wiki public. This means that you don’t have to have a wikispaces account to access it. It also means that any yahoo out there can read it. Just keep that in mind.
Please be professional and respectful . No opinions or judgments should be made. This is an informational space, not an open forum.
Wikis can be used a ton of different ways. I’m happy to help, if you’re interested in signing up for an account or would like some more information.
O.K. let’s get started… http://rosehillinfo.wikispaces.com
