Wikipedia has become a popular reference tool due to its ease of use, accessibility, and frequent updates. However, it lacks some of the rigor of traditional reference books due to its open editing model which allows for potential bias and errors. A 2005 Nature study found Wikipedia had slightly more factual errors than Britannica when comparing science articles, and that most Nature authors did not contribute to Wikipedia. While Wikipedia provides a useful starting point for research, its search capabilities are limited and information should be verified against more authoritative sources.
