For this project I have chosen the issue of police brutality which is gradually crawling back specifically affecting youths and teens residing in low economic suburbs in Georgia.
My project will therefore target the residents in these localities particularly the youth, parents and opinion shapers with regards to shaping public policies. These stakeholders include activism NGOs, social researchers and the local political leadership.
This initiative was inspired by a presentation made by Isabela Robinson on Ted Talks in March last year where she suggested the evils subjected on young citizens by the police and the effect this has on their development (TEDx Talks, 2019).
Research Question- The role of social media in reporting cases of police brutality in low economic status suburbs in Savannah.
To collect primary data for my study, I have interviewed two victims of this social evil, their respective parents and have complemented this information with records of hospitalized victims and an expert opinion from a local researcher affiliated to social activism firm in Savannah.
In this project I will persuade the residents of the suburbs to embark on forming social networks and giving these cases the publicity they need to be exposed and attended.
To successfully convince the residence to use social media to root out police brutality I will use experts and opinions from authorities of the sociology of policing, present to them statistics of those affected by the issue and the worrying trend and later present the sorry states of those whose lives have been negative affected by the issue.
However, disrespect for authorities in many instances prompt the police to apply violence (Silver, 2017). I will emphasize on cooperation with the police and a call for the youth to desist from violence and drug abuse as the police have cited these as their resolve to apply violence to apprehend some youths.
To seek more information on this project, I have used the PsycINFO catalogue in the Cleveland State Community College to identify scholarly articles relating to the issue. Here is have found articles and videos which are more important as they have more elaborate data. I have not had any trouble sourcing information on the project.

For this project I have chosen the issue of police brutality which is gradually crawling back specifically affecting youths and teens residing in low economic suburbs in Georgia.
My project will therefore target the residents in these localities particularly the youth, parents and opinion shapers with regards to shaping public policies. These stakeholders include activism NGOs, social researchers and the local political leadership.
This initiative was inspired by a presentation made by Isabela Robinson on Ted Talks in March last year where she suggested the evils subjected on young citizens by the police and the effect this has on their development (TEDx Talks, 2019).
Research Question- The role of social media in reporting cases of police brutality in low economic status suburbs in Savannah.
To collect primary data for my study, I have interviewed two victims of this social evil, their respective parents and have complemented this information with records of hospitalized victims and an expert opinion from a local researcher affiliated to social activism firm in Savannah.
In this project I will persuade the residents of the suburbs to embark on forming social networks and giving these cases the publicity they need to be exposed and attended.
To successfully convince the residence to use social media to root out police brutality I will use experts and opinions from authorities of the sociology of policing, present to them statistics of those affected by the issue and the worrying trend and later present the sorry states of those whose lives have been negative affected by the issue.
However, disrespect for authorities in many instances prompt the police to apply violence (Silver, 2017). I will emphasize on cooperation with the police and a call for the youth to desist from violence and drug abuse as the police have cited these as their resolve to apply violence to apprehend some youths.
To seek more information on this project, I have used the PsycINFO catalogue in the Cleveland State Community College to identify scholarly articles relating to the issue. Here is have found articles and videos which are more important as they have more elaborate data. I have not had any trouble sourcing information on the project.

based civic engagement and social change, these efforts have gained momentum in the 21st century due to a variety of

Historical awareness informs various aspects of our lives. We live in a time of rapid change, and we often think more about the future than the past. However,
studying history can help us better understand our own lives in the context of the places we live and society in general. In America, specifically, the government is
informed by its citizens. If the ideals of society shift, that shift will eventually move throughout the different levels of government, effecting widespread change.
For the projects in this course, you will select a historical event that has impacted American society in some way. You may select an event that was discussed in
the course, or you may select your own event, with instructor approval. You may consider using the event you chose to work on in your Perspectives in History
class, if that event is something you wish to investigate further through this assessment.
In Project 1, you will develop a plan for an essay on this historical event. The plan will include a brief description of the selected historical event and the resources
you will use in your research. In addition, you will identify an audience for your essay and decide how to communicate your information to this audience. In
Project 2, you will write an essay analyzing the historical event you selected, examining its impact on society as well as its impact on you personally.

Swimming Pool - Attractive Nuisance Scenario:
John and Mary Cooke own a home in Anytown, Your State, with a private swimming pool in their backyard. Pursuant to local ordinances, their backyard is completely fenced by a five-foot wooden fence and the gate is kept closed with a latch at the top of the fence.
The Cookes live next door to the Andersons, a family with a two-year-old son, Joseph. Joseph loved water, and the Andersons had joined the Cookes swimming in the Cookes’ pool on numerous occasions. Although not yet “swimming” on his own, Joseph greatly enjoyed splashing in the pool and looked forward to playing with the Cookes’ dog, Rover. From the moment Joseph woke up in the morning until he went to bed at night, his favorite topics were “pool” and “dog.” Rover spent most of his days in the pool enclosure, relaxing on the pool deck or swimming. Joseph would become extremely excited anytime he heard Rover bark from next door.
One Saturday morning Joseph was playing on the screened-in porch of his home. He seemed quite content playing with his toys while his parents completed some odd jobs around the house. in 1966, it has grown steadily through the incorporation of additional colleges and
further education providers, but retains an emphasis on engineering, science and
technology.
Today, it numbers around 15,000 students and 2,000 staff.
As part of a five-year strategic plan, the university’s “Open Kingdom” project aims to
create a consistent user experience across the campus, including the provision of
wireless network access. This last issue became critical in the summer of 2012, when
the Students body insisted on wireless access for all residential buildings before starting
negotiations on 2013 rents.
“We’d traditionally viewed wired as good enough for everybody,” says John Patrick.

experience. They expect the same experience on campus as they have at home.
Students wanted to do their computing anywhere, anyhow, on the go, inside the

The solution needs to provide wireless access coverage in the 7 buildings across
campus, four of them residential, and for the solution to provide a robust remote access
system (VPN) for faculty and staff.
The solution should not discriminate between devices; students would be free to use
smartphones, games consoles or tablets on the network, for work or play. However, the
network needed to differentiate between staff, students, conference visitors and guests,
granting the appropriate access to services. Ultimately, with thousands of users bringing
their own devices onto the network, it needed to maintain the security of the university’s
systems.

They do not yet have an IT staff, but when they do, the IT staff will take over all aspects of IT administration. This course requires a long-term investigative project. This project will require the formation of teams. As a team you will be asked to
defend a claim about a relevant political concept or phenomenon, and to connect
each of the following cultural artifacts to a concept or set of related concepts addressed in this course:

This phase of the course project requires you to write a Literature Review. The literature review must be at least 1,900 words of text (graphics, tables, etc. [non-textual items] can be inserted in an APA-formatted appendix), contain a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed sources (scholarly journal articles), follow current APA format, contain a title page, reference page, and an appendix section if needed for non-textual items.
Instructions
Ideally a literature review must contain 3 main sections; however, for this course you only need to focus on Section 1.
1. Tell what the research says (theory).
2. Tell how the research was carried out (methodology).
3. Tell what is missing, the “gap” that your research intends to fill.
Writing a literature review entails conducting research, but to be more specific it states the following information.

Use a variety of sources to establish a preliminary picture of the community in order to gauge the concerns of actual members within the community itself.

Several professionals in the field of architecture and urban design employ creative tactics focused on social impact, civic
dialogue, and grass roots placemaking. Drawing on socially responsible urban design theory, as well as principles of arts-
based civic engagement and social change, these efforts have gained momentum in the 21st century due to a variety of
economic, governmental, social and technological factors. This research capstone will include an extensive literature
review through two courses – PPPM 523 Urban Revitalization and an independent reading course on “bottom-up”
urban design with Professor Philip Speranza – as well as web-based document analysis of select case studies. The
purpose of this study is to locate these tactics within current urban redevelopment policy and arts-based community
development theory, and outline elements of best practice as a means of advancing the field of community driven urban
design.

Swimming Pool - Attractive Nuisance Scenario:
John and Mary Cooke own a home in Anytown, Your State, with a private swimming pool in their backyard. Pursuant to local ordinances, their backyard is completely fenced by a five-foot wooden fence and the gate is kept closed with a latch at the top of the fence.
The Cookes live next door to the Andersons, a family with a two-year-old son, Joseph. Joseph loved water, and the Andersons had joined the Cookes swimming in the Cookes’ pool on numerous occasions. Although not yet “swimming” on his own, Joseph greatly enjoyed splashing in the pool and looked forward to playing with the Cookes’ dog, Rover. From the moment Joseph woke up in the morning until he went to bed at night, his favorite topics were “pool” and “dog.” Rover spent most of his days in the pool enclosure, relaxing on the pool deck or swimming. Joseph would become extremely excited anytime he heard Rover bark from next door.
One Saturday morning Joseph was playing on the screened-in porch of his home. He seemed quite content playing with his toys while his parents completed some odd jobs around the house. Once, when his mother checked on him, he was gazing toward the Cookes’ house and listening for Rover’s bark. His mother told Joseph that they could go swimming and visit Rover later in the day.
The parents lost track of time, each assuming that the other had been checking on Joseph. All of a sudden, the Andersons realized that neither one of them had checked on Joseph for a while. in 1966, it has grown steadily through the incorporation of additional colleges and
further education providers, but retains an emphasis on engineering, science and
technology.
Today, it numbers around 15,000 students and 2,000 staff.
As part of a five-year strategic plan, the university’s “Open Kingdom” project aims to
create a consistent user experience across the campus, including the provision of
wireless network access. This last issue became critical in the summer of 2012, when
the Students body insisted on wireless access for all residential buildings before starting
negotiations on 2013 rents.
“We’d traditionally viewed wired as good enough for everybody,” says John Patrick.

experience. They expect the same experience on campus as they have at home.
Students wanted to do their computing anywhere, anyhow, on the go, inside the

The solution needs to provide wireless access coverage in the 7 buildings across
campus, four of them residential, and for the solution to provide a robust remote access
system (VPN) for faculty and staff.
The solution should not discriminate between devices; students would be free to use
smartphones, games consoles or tablets on the network, for work or play. However, the
network needed to differentiate between staff, students, conference visitors and guests,
granting the appropriate access to services. Ultimately, with thousands of users bringing
their own devices onto the network, it needed to maintain the security of the university’s

They do not yet have an IT staff, but when they do, the IT staff will take over all aspects of IT administration. Organizations can do a lot more with their data if they understand it better than they do. While businesses continue to invest dollars in business intelligence (BI) and analytics tools, they aren't necessarily getting the information they need to improve business decision-making.

Notably, data visualizations tend to answer "what" questions, but they don't tend to explain the "why," or provide other contextual information. Data storytelling does exactly that.
"Data storytelling weaves data and visualizations into a narrative tailored to a specific audience in order to convey credibility in the analytical approach, confidence in the results, and a compelling set of insights that is actionable to the audience." said Ryan Fuller, general manager at Microsoft and former CEO and cofounder of enterprise analytics company VoloMetrix, in an interview. "The narrative is the key vehicle to convey insights, and the visualizations are important proof points to back up the narrative."
Executives, managers, and employees have always told stories as part of their everyday work experience, but they are increasingly being required to use data to support their points of view, claims, and recommendations. The danger, of course, is data can be tortured into saying almost anything.
"One of the biggest mistakes is trying to fit the data to the story, which often results in a jumbled narrative that doesn't arrive at a compelling conclusion," said Francois Ajenstat, VP of product development at BI and analytics solution provider

After speaking with experts in data science and analytics, we've developed the following four tips to help guide your data storytelling.
1. General Storytelling Rules Apply
Effective data storytelling is a lot like storytelling generally. The data story should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. It should also include a thesis (or a hypothesis), supporting facts (data), a logical structure, and a compelling presentation. Yet, all too often, those responsible for analyzing data are unable to present it in a way that's meaningful to the audience.
"A common mistake is spending too much time on the technical aspect or methodology and not providing much creativity in pointing out how the data can help the business," said David Liebskind, VP of anal.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
