In this slide, I talked about why Blockchain as a technology may not be a feasible solution to your problems. This is a lightning talk that I presented in NDC Sydney 2018.
How is blockchain affecting nonprofits, NGOs, social enterprise, and other organizations creating positive impact -- right now? This presentation gives examples and use cases, as well as resources and tools you can use to stay updated on trends in blockchain and other emerging technology.
Presented at Better World Day 2019 in Cleveland, OH by Amy Neumann, founder and executive director of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, Free Tech for Nonprofits.
Great Data Delivery: A model-based approachZach Taylor
Great data strategies focus on delivery. The presentation will discuss:
- The importance of how data is delivered to driving user adoption of data-driven behavior
- Strategies for creating data driven organizations
- A model-based approach to supporting self-service analytics and ending "data breadlines"
- User experience design for data teams creating a data product for their organizations

Online businesses are struggling to deal with ever increasing and complex amounts of information – from Google Analytics, to e-commerce to internal data. This presentation will highlight how data visualization can allow everyone within an organization to access and understand e-commerce data in order to gain actionable insights, make informed decisions, and drive better results.

Learn The Disadvantages Of Blockchain - 101 BlockchainsJackSmith435850
Although blockchain offers a lot of advantages, it does come with a lot of issues as well. Check out the top disadvantages of blockchain technology in this presentation.
Blockchain is a decentralized and distributed ledger system. In blockchain technology, the data is stored within blocks and then linked to one another, forming a chain of blocks. Some of the key features of blockchain include – immutability, decentralized, enhanced security, consensus protocol, and faster output.
Although blockchain offers a lot of benefits for a lot of sectors, it still comes with its fair share of disadvantages. Most blockchain platforms are still not scalable enough. Some of the public blockchain platforms, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, are not energy efficient.
Blockchain can be inefficient under certain conditions. The efficiency of blockchain technology varies from platform to platform. Implementing blockchain-based solutions from scratch is a costly investment.
If you want to invest in blockchain technology, it’s best to learn more about the technology from a reliable source. At 101 Blockchains, we offer the best of the best courses on blockchain technology to help you understand the true potential of this new tech.

The number of connected devices is growing at an accelerated pace. We developers must have the knowledge & skills to help make that happen. But how? As device deployments and data collected grow exponentially, DevOps is the answer to fast, consistent, and sane systems, organizations, and developers. This session will provide a brief-but-thorough examination of key DevOps tenets and how they apply to large-scale deployments of small-scale devices and the platforms that tie them together. A live-coding demo will convert these concepts from ideas to implementations.

Blockchain is a technology I knew very littel about, that is until I committed, in this lockdown period, to educate myself in it. As a technology it could be seen as revolutionary but combined with a business model, a decentralised mindset and an open innovation culture, it becomes a powerful tool for a new way of doing business. I have worked with cooperative models, social enterprises and charities, this technology sits comfortably in any of them. B-Corps are not the only beneficiaries to this - all businesses in the future will have to shift from the centralised models to a deentralised format - especially in a world so dependent upon the digital platforms of the day.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

1. Why Blockchain
doesn’t make sense
Michael John Peña
Senior Consultant, Blockchain SME @Readify
Microsoft MVP
@mjtpena
2. –Michael John Peña
“Finding a solid use case for Blockchain is hard
because it involves Partnerships, Technical
Readiness and Cultural Uplift. But when you found
one, it really makes a lot of sense.”
3. You don’t have partners
• You are centralising the governance of the nodes
• A business unit owns and manages the infrastructure
• There is no trust issue that you want to solve
4. It’s hard to scale
• Public Blockchain (like Ethereum on MainNet and Bitcoin)
is expensive and not fast enough.
• Infrastructure cost of semi-private Blockchain is also
expensive
• Versioning of “Smart Contracts” is painful
5. Further Challenges
• It doesn’t solve the “Who am I” problem in a Decentralised
Voting System. Maybe Biometrics can?
• Regulation is getting harder (for Public Apps)
• It gets too complex that has little to no value for end users
