Who Is She
How do you administer Who Is She
Advanced Webmaster administration is not always easy – but fun!
Understanding the
roles of the
different user types
Different views if
you’re a webmaster
or an editor
Views, blocks
and nodes –
basic Drupal
The roles of different
usertypes
With a CMS roles and usertypes are important!
4. Editor = The editors, logged in have a
different view, with more options, and can
adjust some of the sites settings, not all.
5. Webmaster = Logged in does all the editing
of the fields etc., may change very much of
the site, must have technical skills and
understand the setup. Can not change all –
see next usertype!
6. Überadmin – not a usertype shown
anywhere – can change everything. At
present our webdeveloper.
1. Anonymous user = The visitor of the site, not
logged in, browsing around the site
2. Expert = The experts, can have access to modify
their profiles, or not (if not they are treated as 1.
but still have password etc, which can be of no
importance if the editor does all of the editing).
Explore the usertypes
Different views if you’re a
webmaster or an editor
The webmaster must think about what the editor sees!
This has to do with permissions!
Can be changed by the the Webmaster in most cases, but
somethings can only be allowed by the Überadmin
Similar but not the same!
Views, Blocks and Nodes
basic Drupal stuff
Most things in Drupal can be configured without programming skills!
» Views – take a look under Structure – and click a view to edit.
Not all views are here!
» Blocks – access it under Structure – Blocks . Here are the main
areas of the site’s design: Header, Left Sidebar, Right Sidebar,
Content and Footer. Note: These are also in the design files!
Check how to configure these, and note the difference between
this and the administration of menus. Also note the disabled
ones!!
» Nodes – What are nodes? Allmost everything! A profile – the
arabic version is 1 node – the english another. A page is a node.
» From Drupal.org: ”A single website could contain many types of
content, such as informational pages, news items, polls, blog
posts, real estate listings etc. In Drupal, each item of content is
called a node, and each node belongs to a single content type,
which defines various default settings for nodes of that type,
such as whether the node is published automatically and
wheter comments are permitted.”
VIEWS/BLOCKS/NODES
It’s good to make an offline
Drupal server and work with that rather than the real production server!

What do you do in
administration and what do
you do in theming?
You adjust the behaviour in administration, you adjust the look and
feel in theming. Theming is the technician – webmaster –
implementing design, by the way of input from a designer or the
editors or by demand of the users. Theming is not traditional design
– but involves elements of design woven together with an
understanding of how the Drupal site works, in code and workflow.
Do you remember your css?
