Diodotus was the Seleucid satrap of Bactria who rebelled against the Seleucid Empire around 255 BC and established the Greco-Bactrian kingdom. He seems to have controlled neighboring provinces as well. Diodotus was a contemporary of Andragoras, the satrap of Parthia, who also declared independence from the Seleucids around the same time. The document then discusses whether Diodotus was a Greek king or the Mauryan emperor Ashoka, presenting arguments that they were the same person based on their contemporaneous reigns and territories that encompassed areas of Bactria, Parthia and Arachosia.
This essay presents a glossary of ancient populations that were Indo-European or adopted a proto-Indo-European language. It focuses on populations in Europe but interacts with others that didn’t claim settlements on European soil.
The essay compiles ancient authors (in the light of current knowledge). These still hold some surprises. For example, many claim that the first conquerors of Western Europe, the Iberians and Pelasgians, only encountered men living in "caves" along the way.
Table of contents: Ambrones, Arimaspi, Assyrians, Bactrians, Cappadocians, Carians, Cimbri, Cimmerians, Colchians, Danes, Dardanians, Etruscans, Franks, Getae, Goths, Greeks, Iberians, Illyrians, Latins, Lycians, Medes, Pelasgians, Phoenicians, Phrygians, Scythians, Teutons
Was Herodotus the Father of History, or the Father of Lies? Scholars debate this question, but we know for sure that his history is the primary source for the history of the Greek-Persian Wars.

The opening chapters of the Histories of Herodotus cover the events leading up to the Greco-Persian Wars. Herodotus examines the customs and history of Persia, Scythia, and Egypt, and the history of Persian expansion in Egypt and Scythia. The histories discuss the birth, rise to power, and death of Cyrus the Great, and his successors King Cambyses, then King Darius.
We also discuss:
• The Amazons of Scythia, the woman warrior inspiration for the Wonder Woman movies.
• How Herodotus may not have actually seen the hippo he describes as a river-horse.
• The myth of how Zeus as a swan consorted with Leda, and how Helen of Troy hatched from her egg.
• The myths of Eris, goddess of discord, and the Judgement of Paris, and how the Egyptians claimed they prevent Helen of Troy from reaching Troy.
• The supposed strange marriage customs of Babylon.
• Curse of King Gyges when he overthrew King Candaules.
• How Cyrus the Great defeated King Croesus.
• The legend of the visit of Solon to the court of King Croesus, where they discuss who are the happiest of men.
• The pronouncements of the priestess of the Oracle at Delphi.
• Why the herdsman Mitradates did not expose the infant Cyrus, as instructed by the king’s steward, Harpagus.
• How Cyrus overthrew the tyrant King Astyages.
• How Queen Tomyris of the Massagetae defeated the army of King Cyrus in battle.
• History of the Persian King Cambyses in Egypt.
• How King Darius ascends to the throne of Persia, and the debate on the best form of government: monarchy, oligarchy, or democracy.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

Who is diodotus greek myth .
1. Diodotus, Seleucid satrap of Bactria, rebelled
against Antiochus II (about 255 BC) and became
the founder of the Graeco-Bactrian kingdom
(Trogus, Prol. 41; Justin xli. 4, 5, where he is
called Theodotus; Strabo xi. 515). His power
seems to have extended over the neighbouring
provinces. Diodotus was a contemporary, a
neighbour, and probably an ally of Andragoras,
the satrap of Parthia, who at about the same
time also proclaimed independence from the
Seleucid Empire.
Now let us find out who is Diodotus, Is he a
Greek King or Mauryan Emperor Ashoka.
Diodotus according to Greeks
..........
Diodotus, the governor of the thousand cities of
Bactria (Latin: "Theodotus, mille urbium
Bactrianarum praefectus"), defected and
proclaimed himself king; all the other people of
the Orient followed his example and seceded
from the Macedonians. (Justin, XLI,4 )
2. Arsaces, the chieftain of the nomadic (Dahan)
tribe of the Parni(east Parthia), fled before him
into Parthia and there eliminated Andragoras,
the former satrap and self-proclaimed king of
Parthia, and became the founder of the Parthian
Empire (Strabo l.c.).
"Soon after, relieved by the death of Diodotus I,
Arsaces made peace and concluded an alliance
with his son, also by the name of Diodotus;
some time later he fought against Seleucos who
came to punish the rebels, but he prevailed: the
Parthians celebrated this day as the one that
marked the beginning of their freedom" (Justin,
XLI,4).
Coinage
Diodotus I Issued Gold and bronze coins, some
of which are struck in the name of Antiochos.
Diodotus Soter appears also on coins struck in
his memory by the later Graeco-Bactrian kings
Agathocles and Antimachus.
3. Ashoka is Diodotus
We can see both are same by the following
points
Same Era -Both lived in the same era. Both
died at the same date.
While we have no inscriptions for Diodotus ,
we have no coins from Ashoka.
Being Neibhours both don't acknowledge
each other.
Both called themselves the Emperor's of the
orient.
Ashoka started as the governer of some
provinces of his father
Bindusara(Amitrochates or Allitrochades),
Who was friendly with Antiochus I and
entertained by ambassadors from Syria and
Egypt.
During Bindusara period, there was revolt in
Taxila(same place of Arsaces), was put down
by Bindusara and subsequently another revolt
was putdown by Asoka after he ascended the
4. Mauryan throne.
In The Nittur Edict Ashoka Calls Himself The
Ruler Of Parthavi(Parthia)Lion is as much
Royal symbol of Macedonians as Mauryans
Stupa's are similar to West Asian Stupas
The Kandahar Edict clearly shows Ashoka as
the master of Arachosia, whereas the
numerous coins of Diodotus-I found from this
area indicate that Diodotus was the sovereign
of this region.
Ashoka has many names,
Priyadarsin(Piodasses),Devanapriya,
Devadutta, the last term should be seen as
Diodotus to greco-Romans, like Sandracuttas
(chandragupta Maruya)
Ashoka mentions his nearby kingdoms in
Girinar inscription as coda, pida,
satyaputo(Mysore Jains), ketaleputo,
Tambapanni(ceylon), Antiyoka(seleucid-
syria), , ptolemy(Egypt),
5. Gongakenos(Gonatus-Macedone),
Magas(cyrene-libya),Alexander II(Epirus-
Alabania,Greece). So his Empire extended
into West Asia. In short he acknowledges
kingdoms all west Asia ,but not Diodotus
So Ashoka is Diodotus and Diodotus is Ashoka ,
the emphasis on the name priyadarsin after the
conquests has made him different ruler to the
contemproary historians. Maybe the western
historians dont want to acknowledge that an
Indian Empire stretched to Greece.
