Factory workers in the late 19th century worked 10-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, which made them unhappy. Some factory owners agreed to close on Sundays to allow workers to attend church. In 1926, Henry Ford decided to close his Ford Motor Company for two days each weekend. This gave workers free time to go on trips and buy Ford cars. While most people now have weekends off, some essential workers like firefighters, police officers, and doctors work every day.

land.

like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover

- 4. They only took a day off because of a holiday, like Christmas day!
- 5. When people started working in factories in the late 19th century (1800s), they had to work 10-16 hours a day, seven days a week!
- 7. Some factory owners agreed to close their factories on Sundays and workers were given the day off to go to church.
- 8. WHO INVENTED WEEKEND? Born on July 30 1863, near Dearborn, Michigan, Henry Ford created the Ford Model car in 1908 and went on to develop the assembly line mode of production, which revolutionized the industry. As a result, Ford sold millions of cars and became world-famous.
