2. BABY DOLL
DEFINITION
A baby doll is a short , sometimes sleeveless lose fitting night
gown for women. Mostly made of nylon ,chiffon or silk.
HISTORY
The creation of the super short night gown is attributed to the
American designer Sylvia Pedlar. Who introduced then 1942 in
response to the fabric shortage during World War II. Baby doll
name was popularized in 1956

3. Nautical Fashion
• Definition
The nautical look is a fun fashion trend in which
vertical blue and white stripes, red accents and even
anchor pattern takes center stage
• History
In 1846 Queen victoria had a child’s sailor uniform
made on board the royal yacht for son albert Edward,
Prince of Wales.

4. Military
• Definition
• the military prints of the world
used on cloths. Military of the
world have had an impact on
fashion.
• History
• During the victorian era the single
and double breasted victorian
frock coat was structured trousers
were also popularized at that
time.

5. Fetish
• Definition
• Fetish fashion is any style or appearance in
the form of a type of clothing or accessory
created to be extreme or provocative.
• They are not usually worn by people because
they are made of materials i.e leather, plastic
,stainless steel etc.
• History
• Early 1900 when the Rubberised Mackintosh
coat make its first apparently materials such
as rubber , latex , and leather.

6. Bondage
• Definition
• bondage is the practice of
consentually tying, binding, or
restraining , .... Early public
displays were mainly limited to
the wearing of certain fashion
items, such as collars and cuffs.

• Late 1970’s fashion.

• Definition
• The fashion items that looks
unfinished and the designers is
still in the midst of experimenting
with the product . Normally
fashion items has exposed seams,
raw edges.

• In 1980’s some designers inspired
this in united states.

8. Kitsch
• Definition
Kitsch is art, objects, or design considered
to be in poor taste because of excessive
garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes
appreciated in an ironic or knowing way.
• History
• As a descriptive
term, kitsch originated in the art
markets of Munich in the 1860s and
the 1870s, describing cheap,
popular, and marketable pictures and
sketches. In Das Buch vom
Kitsch (The Book of Kitsch), Hans
Reimann defines it as a professional
expression "born in a painter's
studio".

9. Retro
• Definition
• Retro style is style that is consciously
derivative or imitative of trends, music,
modes , fashion, or attitudes of the
recent past.
• History
• The style now called "retro art" is a
genre of pop art which was developed
in the 1940s and 1950s, in response to
a need for bold, eye-catching graphics.

10. Gothic
• Definition
• Gothic fashion is a clothing style
marked by conspicuously dark,
mysterious , exotic and complex
features.
• History
• Gothic fashion flourished in its original
form from 1200AD and 1450AD. Styles
kept on changing with the passage of
time.

11. Punk
• Definition
• Punk fashion is the clothing ,
hairstyle , cosmetics , jewellery
and body modifications of the
punk subcultures.
History
• A culture popular among young
people esp in late 1970’s gained
their popularity through shocking
behaviour , music, clothes , and
hairs aggressive fast and loud
music.

12. Bohemians
• Definition
Bohemians style often referred to
as “boho”or “boho chic” is a style of
dressing. People interested in art ,
living very informally group called
the gypsies or romany are also
called ‘bohemians’ in french.
• History
In world war II, french people were
facing financial crises , the artist ,of
the place started painting their
condition to earn money.

13. Safari
• Definition
• History
The earliest reference to a 'safari suit' is
from an American newspaper in 1935. In
1936, author and adventurer Ernest
Hemingway designed a 'bush jacket'
which was made by Willis & Geiger. In
1939, Abercrombie & Fitch advertised
safari jackets, shorts and trousers, of 'coat
shirt style' for sports and leisure wear.[4]

14. PREPPY STYLE
• DEFINITION
• Preppy style is almost like a
school uniform.
• HISTORY
• preppy-influenced fashions
emerged in the 1960s, a trend led
by designers such as Perry
Ellis and Lilly Pulitzer, influenced
by designers such as Oleg Cassini,
and popularized by female
students at the Seven Sisters
Colleges, sister institutions to
the Ivy league.

15. EMO
• DEFINITION
• THE emo fashion is associated with
wearing skinny jeans, as well as t-shirts
(usually short-sleeved) which often
bear the names of emo bands.
Studded belts and black wristbands
also became associated with emo
fashion.
• History
• It emerged as a style of post-hardcore from
the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of
Washington, D.C., where it was known as
"emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and
pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring
and Embrace. ... By the early 2010s, the
popularity of emo began to decrease.

16. ethnic fashion
• Definition
• It is fashion that embraces and
represents a culture and allows
one to celebrate her heritage and
origin.
• History
• During the 1990s and the first
years of the new millennium,
ethnic style has been one of the
strongest influences in fashion.

17. smocking
• Definition
• smocking is an embroidery
technique used to gather fabric so
that it can stretch. Before
elastic, it was commonly used in
cuffs, bodices, and necklines in
garments where buttons were
undesirable.

extensively in the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries.
