My Family is the most
important and most precious
gift I could have.
My mother, Reyna, and my
grandmother, Bertha, are
considered my heroes and
mothers. They have always
been there for me and have
always advised me to do the
right thing. My father is my #1
man, he’s the only one that
has made me the strong
young woman I am today.
He’s the one that has always
told me “when the world hits
you hard, hit it twice as hard
as it hit you, and walk on it
with your head up high and
with pride.” My brothers,
sisters, and cousins have
always been there for me
and we always have each
others back. My older cousins
are the ones I look up too,
they’ve inspired me to never
give up and to follow my
dreams. My little cousins look
up to me and inspire me to
do my best so I can be the
best role model I can be. My
boyfriend has always been
there for me too and has told
me to never give up and
follow my dreams.
I may be a very girly girl,
but I am also very sporty.
I love to do makeup
tutorials, go shopping,
and of course always
look my best. I also love
to listen to music, dance,
and write poems. Some
of my favorite music is
Latin, bachata,
merengue, salsa,
reggeaton, cumbia,
regional mexican, pop,
hip hop, rnb, techno and
musch more. I’ve been
dancing since I was
around 8, since my
mother put me in a Latin
dance program. I love to
read poetry and write
about my life, goals, and
past expiriences. On the
other hand, I love to play
softball and volleyball. I
play with my team from
Joliet, the Tigers. I love
my team and these
sports are my life.
I have many goals and
dreams, I want to
achieve them all. I want
to graduate form William
Howard Taft High School
with a diploma and my
class. I want to attend
College of DuPage after
graduating. From there I
want to start in my
career, graduate college,
and start to work. I don’t
know exactly what I want
to major in, but I’ve been
thinking about
psychology, tech
engineer, or lawyer. All I
know is that I want to be
successful and be
someone in life and
society.
My family is very big and
very united. We tend to
keep our traditions and
culture alive in our lives.
We do this by celebrating
holidays, celebrations,
dances, stories and foods.
My family is from Mexico
and we have a little bit of
Spanish background in us
too. I love my roots, I
would never be ashamed
of my people nor roots.
The people who have
impacted my life the most
have been my mother,
Reyna, and my brother,
Jimmy. My mother has
gone through many things,
from loosing a parent,
surgery, to loosing her job,
and on the boarder of
dying. Yet, she never gave
up and up till now she’s still
here with me. I love her
she’s always there for me, in
the ups and downs. My
brother jimmy was the
second one in our family to
attend college. Today, my
brother is one of the top
students in U of A. He is
studying to become a
psychologist and is not
going to give up. My
brother has always been an
A and B student he
graduated with honors, and
today he is my inspiration.
He’s always told me to walk
with pride and honor even
when life gets really rough.
Today, I am just a 17 year
old young woman, who is
eager to become
somebody. I am still trying
to find myself, yet, I know
that someday I will
become somebody
important in both life and
society. Right now I am a
senior at William Howard
Taft High School,
tomorrow a student at
COD. In the future I will
become a successful
woman, who will keep her
family united and
traditions alive. Soon, I will
achieve all my dreams
and goals and nothing
will get in my way. I will
never give up and I shall
walk with my head up
high with pride and
honor. Someday I will be,
do, and have all I’ve ever
dreamed of. Yet, right
now I am just Stephanie
Marie Iturbide, ready to
grow up and find myself.
