This document discusses the concept of white privilege and whether it still exists today. It acknowledges that historically, white people faced fewer obstacles and had more opportunities than black people. However, it argues that in today's society, white people now face more scrutiny and limitations in how they can discuss race. It claims that attempts to promote racial diversity and address racial inequalities have given black people more advantages over white people. The document concludes that white privilege has become extinct and black people now have more privilege in today's world.
TEDx talk by TED fellow sanjukta basu at TEDxITMUSanjukta Basu
I was invited as a speaker at TEDx event at Institute of Technology and Management University, Gurgaon. I spoke about the taboo around rape and how we have to end the shame and talk about it.
The talk examined the persistence of race in purportedly postracial times. Why do racial logics continue to underpin disparities in social, economic, cultural and political opportunities despite official commitments to the eradication of racism, not only within individual states but across them? Alana Lentin built on Barnor Hesse’s invocation of a ‘raceocracy’ which rules performatively and as a system for the management of human life. Zoning in on the global laboratory for the ‘production of horror’ that is the Australian system of mandatory detention for asylum seekers, she examined the co-dependency between the maintenance of the racialized border and professed commitments to a postracial future, a division which entrenches a divide between purified inside and the contaminants that lurk outside the contemporary racial state.
Talking about difficult topics like gender, race, sexual orientation, and class can raise anxiety for many people, and yet we must have the conversation in our organizations and our lives in order to be more inclusive and change the world for the better. What are the fears and common pitfalls that keep us from broaching courageous conversations? Gain practical skills for responding to hurtful experiences and facilitating courageous conversations.

In the shadow of white privilege… making the invisible visible Jason Haye
A case study of the University of Suffolk’s handling of racism/discrimination.
The title of this presentation stems from the challenges that people of non-Caucasian backgrounds have to face in a Caucasian dominated system.
The reason why I have created this presentation is because despite U.C.S showing they do not understand the true notion of diversity. They will use my cultural background via statistics and images to promote to potential customers, a surface level of diversity… which is a weak notion of diversity.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

White Privilege, Extinct or Existent?
Throughout a lot of our history, white people have been superior. They always had the
upper hand on most of anything they chose to do. With that said, they typically had an easier
time in life in general; no worries about being judged based on their race, or being told they
couldn’t do something or go somewhere based on their skin color. Whites were basically
welcomed everywhere. Even in our not so distant past, 70 years ago or so, being white could
easily get you a job over a black person, simply because our country was still dealing with
making blacks equal to whites. Because of this, many people in the black community fought for
their rights to be looked at not as black, but as American. For the right to be equal to a white
man, and to be looked at as their equal.
In our more modern era, black rights are still being fought for. With our media coverage
today, someone watching would probably think that what is being talked about was from our
past, not our present. However, the negative stories about black and whites not getting along are
always blown out of proportion. Everybody today loves to watch drama and conflicts on TV, so
what better way to get more views on a news station than to give the people what they want,
violence. With what is always portrayed on the media, the group Black Lives Matter came along
to stop racial inequality against blacks. Sadly though, the media only talks about the conflicts
that deals with a white person “hating” on a black person. Media coverage will never show these
2. types of stories with the roles reversed. That’s because it wouldn’t get as much attention, it
would be too unordinary for a black person to be racist against a white person.
That is our problem, in our country racism only works one way, whites hating everybody.
Now tell me, what kind of white privilege is that? The only privilege white folk receive is the
privilege of being shown on the media hating or killing black people. It may be true, in our past
white people did have it easier, but that is simply not true today, and let me explain why.
As a white individual, I constantly have to be aware about how I am describing
somebody of a different race. If I described a black person by saying they were really tall and
had a big nose, I would be called racist, even if those two statements were true about the
individual. If I started a sentence with, “that black man,” I would be called out and told how that
is inappropriate. Now tell me, how many times has a black person said “that white guy” and been
called out for being racist? How many times in general do people turn a blind eye to a black
person being racist against a white person, but never hesitate how a white person is being racist
toward a black person.
In my personal opinion, I believe that blacks actually have more privilege than a white
person does today. In any TV show or advertisement, it is always racially diverse. When
applying for that last acting spot, maybe a black person got the spot over a white person, simply
because they were black, and that is what the director needed to make things equal. Maybe that
white person fit the role way better, but was cut because he was the wrong color. In everyday
life, if a person is white, they have to watch their wording when talking about a black individual,
but a black individual can say whatever they want to about a white person. I also feel that blacks
receive more attention in an effort to make sure we aren’t leaving them out, in a fear of being
called racist. Simply put, White privilege doesn’t exist anymore.
