Deciding what information to share and what information to keep private is one of the most critical decisions companies face when they decide to sell part of the company. Sharing too much information allows competitors to identify advantages to use against the parent company. Keep irrelevant information may result in unnecessary costs, such as excess storage, maintenance, and disaster-recovery charge.

Analyzing data quickly for the most relevant information allows you to make informed decisions at the time they matter most: In the moments before a promising prospect turns into a lost opportunity. But the sheer volume of data involved in making business decisions continues to grow exponentially by the day. In addition, the ability to access pertinent information quickly depends on how the data in your Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is structured, and whether it is complete, consistent and correct.

The complexity of Oracle® Applications’ relational databases has grown exponentially with each new version release, resulting in a system that is extremely difficult to implement and maintain. For example, Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 contains over 2 million columns, each of which could be related to any other, or could be part of a check constraint, or part of a unique or primary key.

The economy has begun to show signs of recovery. Companies are reporting stronger earnings. Except for what might have been a technical or systemic anomaly, stock indices are on the rise. Unemployment claims are dropping and jobs are slowly being created. Companies that have been hanging on to cash are in a good position to spend it on deals or to hire back workers. In other words, the economy is positioned for growth.

It’s happening company-wide: Different divisions, from accounting to purchasing, are looking to cut down on costs and reduce inefficiencies in an attempt to ride out the latest economic tides. This belt-tightening attitude can be seen in the significant layoffs of recent years, and in the aversion companies have toward participating in internal projects that do not yield an earnest return on investment. The result is that the same divisions that once relied on more staff to share the workload, or those which were better equipped to handle their responsibilities, are now using workarounds just to get the job done.

There are few constants in this world, but the way in which we do business is not one of them. Instead, companies must actively adapt to change within the marketplace. As the international landscape continues to grow smaller due to advances in technology, businesses are realizing the importance of operating on a global scale. As with any equally ambitious venture, although there is great potential for a strong return on investment (ROI), moving to a global model – or even strengthening one’s current global infrastructure – comes with a unique set of challenges. Among the most prevalent are the needs to operate around-the-clock, extend influence within emerging markets and implement a global vision throughout the enterprise.

Mantralogix how to plug slow profit leaksMantralogix
Reclaiming Profit with Fresh Perspective
Mid-market companies are the main driver of our economy and the number one contributor to the gross domestic product (GDP).
At the outset of creating a business, the owner(s) and/or employees that are in place create paper-based processes, which allow the company to start up and grow.
As the company grows, one of two things usually happens. The company owner(s) stays involved and deeply analyzes every process, which can sometimes create analysis paralysis and slow down growth. The better option is for the owner(s) to connect with trusted industry partners to focus on change management elements so they themselves can focus on their core business.

Leveraging Purchasing in a Multi-Org Environmenteprentise
When companies originally set up multi-org in Oracle’s E-Business Suite, security and control were the primary drivers for separating data into different operating units. Plants wanted to run their own operations, negotiate their own contracts with suppliers, and set up their own invoicing, inventory and receiving practices.

Are You Leaving Money on the Table Addressing the Limitations of a Multi-Org ...eprentise
Since multi-org capabilities were fine-tuned in Oracle® E-Business Suite (EBS), companies have established environments with security and control as the primary drivers for separating data among operating units. Different divisions want to run their own operations, negotiate their own contracts with suppliers, and set up their own invoicing, inventory and receiving practices. On top of this, competitive work environments that pit general managers and product line operations against each other prevent different parts of the company from sharing transaction details with one another. This often results in businesses setting up hundreds of operating units, each with its own freight carriers, matching tolerances, approval hierarchies, supplier terms and contracts.

Everyone Takes a Hit - What You Can Do About It - 5 Key Business Metrics and ...eprentise
Before the onset of the recession and the meltdown in the financial sector, for businesses addressing change meant adapting to more cash coming in and what to do with it to keep investors happy or adapting to unprecedented growth – one of those “good problems to have”. Organizations were looking at 3, 5, and 7 year strategic plans with upwards of 20% growth year over year. A company doing $100 million in revenue might have had plans to double in size in four or five years.

The Business vs. IT: Can’t We All Just Get Along?eprentise
It is no surprise that IT is not always aligned with business goals. The conflicts arise because IT is often unaware of how the business uses the systems that IT is responsible for installing and supporting, and the business is often unaware of exactly what is involved in an IT project. There are several other reasons for the disconnect between IT and the business.

Despite the inevitability of change, the resistance to change is so pervasive that it has inspired numerous publications and an entire industry of change management experts dedicated to overcoming it (e.g., Lientz and Rea, 2004). The inability to change is certainly seen as a major flaw in business, resulting in the call for agile management, agile IT, and agile thinking. Yet, despite the dread with which many organizations face change, change can itself be used for strategic advantage—such as the changes resulting from the adoption of a disruptive technology, like the internet.

Ace your Audit: Preparing your Oracle® E-Business Suite for a Financial Auditeprentise
During a traditional audit, users of Oracle E-Business Suite run into the same pain point: they struggle to identify and extract accurate data out because there are not adequate controls around reporting. The data usually ends up coming from multiple places, the level of detail needed isn't found in the system, and significant time is spent by high-dollar resources to prepare for the audit. However, there are ways to leverage EBS to run industry-standard audit procedures and proactively identify areas of non-compliance in advance for a smoother process. In this session, explore the recommended year-round practices and tools available to ace your audit.

Globus Compute wth IRI Workflows - GlobusWorld 2024Globus
As part of the DOE Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program, NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and ALCF at Argonne National Lab are working closely with General Atomics on accelerating the computing requirements of the DIII-D experiment. As part of the work the team is investigating ways to speedup the time to solution for many different parts of the DIII-D workflow including how they run jobs on HPC systems. One of these routes is looking at Globus Compute as a way to replace the current method for managing tasks and we describe a brief proof of concept showing how Globus Compute could help to schedule jobs and be a tool to connect compute at different facilities.
Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?
