White lions live in parts of Africa, India, and Asia. There are estimated to be around 300 white lions worldwide, held in captive breeding and hunting operations. White lions have a recessive gene that causes their white coloration rather than albinism. They live in social groups called prides typically made up of related females and offspring along with a few males.
