Squash is a two-player indoor game where players hit a small rubber ball against a wall and attempt to bounce it twice before their opponent returns it. During play, a player may ask for a "let", or replay of the point, if their opponent obstructs their ability to return the ball. However, if the player could not have reached the ball regardless of interference, the point is lost. Lets are also permitted if the ball hits items left on the floor. The scoring and rules aim to balance fair play with responsibility of keeping the court clear.

Players, holding a racket, take turns hitting a small rubber ball against a wall, and points
are awarded when the ball bounces twice before the returning player hits it. Games
typically go to 11 and a match is won when a player wins three games.

The scoring system has some variations. Should the player whose turn it is to return the
ball find that she is being obstructed from doing so by her opponent, she can stop play
and ask for a let, which is a replay of the point. However, if both parties determine that
the player could not have reached the ball and interference was minimal, the player loses
the point. Conversely, if the opponent doesn't make enough of an effort to avoid
interference, the contesting player is awarded the point. Lets are also allowed at both
players' discretion when the ball hits any items lying on the floor.
