Main concerns of women’s movement in India have been:
• Men outnumber women in India, unlike in most countries where the reverse is the case.
• Majority of women go through life in a state of nutritional stress - they are anaemic and malnourished. Girls and women face nutritional discrimination within the family, eating last and least.
• The average Indian woman has little control over her own fertility and reproductive health.
• Literacy rate is lower in women as compared to men and far fewer girls than boys go to school. Even when girls are enrolled, many of them drop out of school.
• Women’s work is undervalued and unrecognized. Women work longer hours than men and carry the major share of household and community work, which is unpaid and invisible.
• Once ‘women’s work’ is professionalized, there is practically a monopoly on it by men. For example, the professional chefs are still largely men. The Sexual Division of Labour ensures that women will always end up as having to prioritize unpaid domestic work over paid work. It is not a ‘natural’ biological difference that lies behind the sexual division of labour, but certain ideological assumptions.
• Women generally earn a far lower wage than men doing the same work, despite the Equal Remuneration Act of 1976. In no State do women and men earn equal wages in agriculture.
• Women are under-represented in various bodies of governance as well as decision-making positions in both public and private sectors.
• Women are legally discriminated against in land and property rights. Most women do not own property in their own names and do not get a share of parental property.
• Women face violence inside and outside the family throughout their lives.

This study examines the cultural adaptation experiences of Bangladeshi migrant women in Victoria, Australia. It focuses on how these women negotiate their ethnic and religious identities while raising children in a new cultural setting. The researcher conducted semi-structured interviews and community profiles with 30 Bangladeshi women living in southern and northern suburbs of Victoria. Preliminary findings suggest the women employ strategies like practicing Bangladeshi language, cuisine and dress, maintaining religious practices, and participating in community gatherings to transfer their cultural identity while adapting to Australian culture. The study aims to contribute new understandings of socio-cultural experiences and adjustment processes for this migrant group in Australia.

Global Research Forum on Diaspora and Transnationalism (GRFDT) is a consortium of researchers and policy makers drawn from national and international universities, institutes and organizations. GRFDT is presently based in India and is shaping as the largest such group focusing specifically on the issues related to diaspora and transnationalism.

She conducted case studies of projects in the United States, India, and Costa Rica, surveying and interviewing volunteers. The findings showed that volunteers' motivations can change over time and are influenced by culture. In the US, motivations were primarily self-directed while in Costa Rica they were more collective. India showed a mix of both. Culture also impacted collaboration cycles, with potential attrition points varying between countries. The world is a colorful canvas of people from all walks of life and backgrounds. In every corner of the globe, there exist people from different religions, racial identifications, ethnic identities who speak different languages, and celebrate different holidays. Culture brings people together equally in many ways. Cultural diversity is very popular in western countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. New immigrants move into these countries every day and become part of the community. A diverse community or environment welcomes diversity and logically when you are more open to more candidates regardless of their diversity. As it was proposed by Urry that, “Cultural diversity is an important challenge that is frequently encountered by sport and exercise psychology professionals. Increased globalization has fostered a wider exchange of people, objects, images, ideas, value systems, and information, which has thus changed the contemporary sporting landscape, signifying one of the most exciting and challenging movements in the globalized cultural field today.” (Urry,2000).
Every person is unique and the more someone is different than you, it is more likely their skills and knowledge will be different from you. Diversity widens viewpoints and takes different ideas and perspectives into account. This can translate into creating richer solutions, obtaining better results, and maximizing productivity, innovation, and creativity. However, lack of or not having enough research on Cultural Diversity in sports psychology means missing such important developmental resources. “AASP program content extends beyond the research to professional issues, but our finding suggests a continuing gap in applied sports psychology with little attention to the wider range of participants or multicultural issues.” (Kamphoff, 2010). According to Drs Robert Schinke and Zella Moore, “while other domains of professional psychology have long embraced the integration of cultural aspects, the field of sport psychology has been slow to join the dialogue or to learn from these relevant sources. Therefore, this special issue of the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology was conceptualized and constructed with the intention of opening these lines of discussion to help ensure that sport psychologists are gaining a comprehensive understanding of the athletes with whom they work, demonstrating respect for and integration of cultural constructs in the treatment room, and maintaining personal and professional self-awareness.” (Schinke, R. & Moore, Z.E., 2011).

Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded Special Olympics in 1968 to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities opportunities to train and compete in sports. Special Olympics has grown significantly since then, with over 3 million athletes from over 180 countries participating in 32 different sports. It aims to help participants gain confidence, form friendships, and feel empowered through athletic achievement and competition. Teachers and volunteers play an important role by motivating and supporting athletes in training for and participating in Special Olympics events.

Overall, the findings provide insight into attitudes toward interracial dating among different ethnic groups in Malaysia.

Roots and Routes
Global Research Forum on Diaspora and Transnationalism (GRFDT) is a consortium of researchers and policy makers drawn from national and international universities, institutes and organizations. GRFDT is presently based in India and is shaping as the largest such group focusing specifically on the issues related to diaspora and transnationalism.
The GRFDT works as an academic and policy think tank by engaging national and international experts from academics, practitioners and policy makers in a broad range of areas such as migration policies, transnational linkages of development, human rights, culture, gender to mention a few. In the changing global environment of academic research and policy making, the role of GRFDT will be of immense help to the various stakeholders. Many developing countries cannot afford to miss the opportunity to harness the knowledge revolution of the present era. The engagement of diaspora with various platform need to be reassessed in the present context to engage them in the best possible manner for the development human societies by providing policy input at the national and global context.

Dana Rotman defended her Ph.D. dissertation on examining the motivations and cultures of volunteers participating in collaborative scientific projects in different countries. She conducted case studies of projects in the United States, India, and Costa Rica, surveying and interviewing volunteers. The findings showed that volunteers' motivations can change over time and are influenced by culture. In the US, motivations were primarily self-directed while in Costa Rica they were more collective. India showed a mix of both. Culture also impacted collaboration cycles, with potential attrition points varying between countries. The study provided insights into sustaining long-term volunteer participation across cultures.

Lack of enough information on cultural diversity due to lack of adequate social and academic researches on cultural diversity which is having an adverse impact on sport psychology regarding it progress and growth in American Society is my new learning point from the text book.
The world is a colorful canvas of people from all walks of life and backgrounds. In every corner of the globe, there exist people from different religions, racial identifications, ethnic identities who speak different languages, and celebrate different holidays. Culture brings people together equally in many ways. Cultural diversity is very popular in western countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. New immigrants move into these countries every day and become part of the community. A diverse community or environment welcomes diversity and logically when you are more open to more candidates regardless of their diversity. As it was proposed by Urry that, “Cultural diversity is an important challenge that is frequently encountered by sport and exercise psychology professionals. Increased globalization has fostered a wider exchange of people, objects, images, ideas, value systems, and information, which has thus changed the contemporary sporting landscape, signifying one of the most exciting and challenging movements in the globalized cultural field today.” (Urry,2000).
Every person is unique and the more someone is different than you, it is more likely their skills and knowledge will be different from you. Diversity widens viewpoints and takes different ideas and perspectives into account. This can translate into creating richer solutions, obtaining better results, and maximizing productivity, innovation, and creativity. However, lack of or not having enough research on Cultural Diversity in sports psychology means missing such important developmental resources. “AASP program content extends beyond the research to professional issues, but our finding suggests a continuing gap in applied sports psychology with little attention to the wider range of participants or multicultural issues.” (Kamphoff, 2010). According to Drs Robert Schinke and Zella Moore, “while other domains of professional psychology have long embraced the integration of cultural aspects, the field of sport psychology has been slow to join the dialogue or to learn from these relevant sources. Therefore, this special issue of the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology was conceptualized and constructed with the intention of opening these lines of discussion to help ensure that sport psychologists are gaining a comprehensive understanding of the athletes with whom they work, demonstrating respect for and integration of cultural constructs in the treatment room, and maintaining personal and professional self-awareness.” (Schinke, R. & Moore, Z.E., 2011).

Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded Special Olympics in 1968 to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities opportunities to train and compete in sports. Special Olympics has grown significantly since then, with over 3 million athletes from over 180 countries participating in 32 different sports. It aims to help participants gain confidence, form friendships, and feel empowered through athletic achievement and competition. Teachers and volunteers play an important role by motivating and supporting athletes in training for and participating in Special Olympics events.

A survey was conducted with 100 students of varying races and ages at a private institution. Results showed that most participants were aged 19-24. Chinese, Indian, and other race participants generally had open-minded views of interracial relationships, as did their parents. However, most Malay participants did not mind relationships with other races but believed their parents would disapprove. Overall, the findings provide insight into attitudes toward interracial dating among different ethnic groups in Malaysia.

When culture speaks: Indian immigrant families’ participation in sport and physical activity in New Zealand Fernandes, Hinckson, Ferkins (2017) Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand Aim to explore specifically what influences the decisions of Indian immigrant families’ participation in SPA. What values impact their involvement in SPA in NZ ? 2. Multiculturalism 3. Evolving Mindset and Beliefs Good infrastructure “It’s a good opportunity to make use of the cycle lanes. I started cycling here. After I’ve begun to experience physical actvity last few years, I think you’ve got to have a good balance of things. You can’t cycle Indian roads. You’d probably end up as a roadkill!” 1. Neighbourhood (design, interaction) Equal rights & opportunity : Egalitarian society Background: In sport and physical activity (SPA), cultural features pose a challenge to behaviour change, particularly for South Asian immigrants who anchor to their cultural beliefs and practices in a western society. Conducting research that explores underlying experiences of Indian involvement in SPA can inform a framework aimed at increasing participation in SPA cultures in NZ. Most international research investigates western communities. Cultural influences largely unexplored. Method Three Indian families participated in this study. Semi-structured interviews and self-reflection reports were used to gather individual experiences of their involvement in SPA in both India and NZ. Thematic network analysis was used as an illustrative tool that enabled the interpretation of the information collected Evolving mindset and beliefs Multiculturalism Neighbourhood ‘Setting the platform’ Positive •..“the interaction with other mums from different cultures that was helpful”...(family 2A) Challenge •.. “asking people from different nationalities to play cricket, they probably they don’t know the rules or they would not be interested”… (family 1S) Insights •..“one must roll up one sleeves and get your hands dirty in NZ……“So through dance we did that”…(family 3C) SPA a medium for social interaction. Perception vs. reality “over here there’s nobody to play with so I watch TV or go on a device, cause here people are at home all the time….we have no place to play, it’s just a driveway and what can I play in a driveway?” “In India, a middle aged woman would not get into sports…In New Zealand, there’s no caste system, they’re broad minded and the spread is wide enough for anybody to take it up at any age group” Findings Are we doing enough in using sport as medium to unite diverse cultures? Conclusion From an acute snapshot of research exploring the influences of Indian immigrant families’ participating in SPA within New Zealand, three main themes emerge 1) neighbourhood through lack of common space and non spontaneous interactions 2) multiculturalism, impact from conflicting cultural forces 3) evolving mind set and beliefs from being within an egalitarian society and impact of good infrastructure. Future research should progress these findings to inform an action plan in New Zealand to improve Indian migrant integration of SPA within the host society.
