Hyperion is a business intelligence database that allows for quick data access. It was acquired by Oracle in 2007. Hyperion has three main products - Essbase, a multidimensional database; Hyperion Planning, a budgeting and forecasting application; and HFM (Hyperion Financial Management), a financial consolidation and reporting tool. Oracle continues to improve and develop Hyperion's products and is a leader in enterprise performance management.

2. Hyperion is a database that allows you to access the data
very quickly. The company was bought by Oracle in 2007
and Oracle has continued to improve the product.
The fancy name for Hyperion is Business intelligence and it aims to support better
business decision-making. Thus a BI system can be called a decision support system
(DSS).Though the term business intelligence is sometimes used as a synonym for
competitive intelligence, because they both support decision making, BI uses
technologies, processes, and applications to analyze mostly internal, structured data
and business processes while competitive intelligence gathers, analyzes and
disseminates information with a topical focus on company competitors.

Essbase is a multidimensional database management system (MDBMS)
that provides a multidimensional database platform upon which to build analytic
applications. Essbase, whose name derives from "Extended Spread Sheet dataBASE",
began as a product of Arbor Software, which merged with Hyperion Software in 1998.

Hyperion Planning is a budgeting and forecasting application.
Hyperion Planning uses Essbase (a multidimensional database ) as a database
and calculation engine, a relational repository for business logic, and includes
a web-based user interface.
The software allows you to add planning or forecast data to actuals. You can
use Web Forms to add the planning data or use the Excel Smart View tool.
Most of the Hyperion reporting tools work great with Planning.

Web-based application that delivers global financial consolidation, reporting and
analysis in a single, highly scalable software solution.
Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, part of the Oracle EPM Suite, supports
the collection, consolidation and reporting of financial results in multiple GAAPs
as well as IFRS, and the reconciliation of differences among the various standards.
