- There is increasing pressure both to perform more efficiently and to reduce the construction schedule without impacting the health, and safety of employees.The flexibility offered by the virtual reality to visualize and interact with the virtual world enable us (designers, clients, and contractors to use VR to model prototypes and test them before constructing the actual project. But it only can happen if the strengths of the technology are emphasized and the Hype is significantly played down. Searching for new Tools and techniques for improving our construction technology, means and methods, and project performance.
- Situation:The GC not involve during Design PhasesModeling Twice => waste of time and moneyDesign Model becomes useless for Subcontractors.SolutionsGet VDC department involved as soon as the kickoff meeting.Explain how to optimize processes and what from the design model can be used by the subcontractors.Provide ideas for prefabrication and modularization.
- A VR integrated construction system can enable the Architect and contractor to walk through the project so that issues can be found and design improvements can be made earlier.It also can facilitate the selection of alternate designs. VR become an interface for interactivity.
- There is an increasing need for spatial understanding of the future workspace. Important decisions need to take place during the Design Phases. Those decisions taken during the early design phase are important due to their possible dramatic effects on the final project, timing and cost.VR also allows the owner, and the occupants to evaluate the virtual prototype for its function, aesthetics and cost very early in the design process.
