What is the difference between Type I and Type II errors in hypothesis testing? How do and
relate to Type I and Type II errors?
Solution
A type I error can only occur when you reject Ho. A type II error can only occur when you fail to
reject Ho.
Alpha is the probability of committing a type I error when you reject Ho.
Beta is the probability of committing a type II error when you fail to reject Ho.
