This lesson, written by Ronnie Hayes, points young people to the importance of teaching from the Bible and being faithful to the text. It is the 10th Lesson in the Lads to Leaders PEARLS book.
1 Timothy outlines Paul's purpose for writing the epistle which includes guarding against false doctrine, protecting public worship, and developing mature leadership. It discusses guarding against false doctrine by introducing Paul's apostleship from God, reminding Timothy of God and Jesus Christ's hope, and qualifying good teachers as having charity, a pure heart, good conscience, faith, and knowledge. Paul expresses gratitude for God's mercy in putting him in ministry and sharing the gospel. He charges Timothy to hold to faith and fight the good fight.
Tour of Living Letters: Introduction to 1 Timothyclarktorrey
1 Timothy provides instructions to Timothy on organizing the church in Ephesus and setting moral and spiritual guidelines for church leadership. It addresses conducting worship services properly, qualifications for overseers and deacons, and how preachers should lead by example in their teachings and lives. Key themes include order in the church, love, godliness, and pursuing righteousness. The purpose is to ensure the church upholds the truth and believers know how to behave with good conduct.
This document provides background information on 1 Timothy, including who it was addressed to (Timothy), Timothy's biography and role as Paul's companion, the themes of sound doctrine, public prayer, and ministerial qualifications covered in the letter, and brief summaries of the contents of each chapter which focus on Paul's instructions to Timothy regarding his duties as a church leader. The purpose of the letter was to instruct Timothy in his responsibilities and warn him against false teachers.
The document discusses the concept of accountability and addresses several questions on this topic. It defines accountability as actions being measured against a standard to determine if they are right or wrong. People are accountable to God, and the standard we are measured by is the Bible. The Bible teaches that we must believe, repent of sins, be baptized, confess faith in Jesus, and faithfully obey God's commands. We become accountable when we understand these concepts. There is no single age of accountability, as people learn at different rates. Those unable to comprehend these biblical teachings, such as young children or those with intellectual disabilities, would not be held accountable in the same way.
Foundational - The Necessity of BaptismNeal Mathis
Baptism is a necessary part of the salvation process. To be baptized properly, one must be capable of making rational decisions and committing to faith in God and obedience to his commands. Several biblical examples show people being baptized after believing. While Romans 3:22-27 does not explicitly mention baptism for salvation, other passages like Romans 6:3-4 and Acts 2:38 connect baptism and salvation. Baptism signifies immersion in water and was the method used in apostolic times. Faith alone is not enough, as faith leads one to act through baptism. Baptism is the beginning of one's journey of faith, not the end, and one must continue in faith to be saved.
2. How Do i begin to Disciple Someone? Notes Letter SizedWilliam Anderson
The document provides guidance on how to begin discipling someone. It emphasizes modeling Jesus and focusing on developing a friendship with the person. It recommends praying for wisdom and discernment. When starting, understand the person's spiritual background and help them learn the basics of the gospel, what it means to be a disciple, and baptism and communion. The goal of discipling is to help the person become more like Jesus in character, heart, and living a Christ-like life.
In this second of four sessions of our “Being and Making Disciples” workshop help in Sacele on September 1,2012 we answered the question “How Did I Begin to Disciple Someone?. We started by looking at things we should take into consideration even before we start discipling someone like how we should model Jesus, the importance of focusing on relationships and the goal of what we do in discipleship. We then went on to look at five key things we should do to help those we are discipling to get off to a good start.
This document contains a summary of 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4 and additional commentary. It makes three key points:
1. Scripture should speak to us by teaching, reproving, correcting, and training us so that we may be complete and equipped for God's work.
2. We should teach Scripture by preaching the word in and out of season, through reproving, rebuking, and exhorting with patience.
3. Spiritual decay occurs when people reject sound teaching and follow myths, craving teachers that suit their own desires rather than truth. They turn away from Scripture. We must let Scripture speak to and work through us.

The document discusses personal happiness, church growth and strength, and eternal salvation. It asks a series of questions to the reader about whether their life will be happy, if the church will be friendly, soul-winning, filled with knowledge, and have encouraging assemblies. It also questions whether the church will remain sound in the faith, and stresses sticking with the words of the apostles, being willing to give and receive rebuke, and desiring correct teaching over what is convenient. Finally, it asks the reader if they will go to heaven.
The document discusses several theological issues related to Roman Catholicism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Muslims, Oneness Pentecostalism, Seventh-day Adventists, and the World Mission Society Church of God. It argues that salvation is by faith alone, not works; Jesus is fully God and man; the Holy Spirit is a person, not a power; the Trinity is a biblical concept; hell exists as a place of eternal punishment; and there is no God the Mother. While some practices like baptism and Sabbath-keeping are not essential for salvation, faith in Christ and obedience to his teachings as revealed in the Bible are most important.
Describe your growth in Christ since you first became a Christian. What are some of the greatest hindrances impeding your Christian maturity in the past and now? At which level of maturity in Christ do you see yourself? Would others agree with your self-assessment?
The document discusses how believers can receive spiritual blessings through being "in Christ". It lists over 30 spiritual blessings mentioned in Scripture as being available "in Christ", such as redemption, eternal life, freedom, and God's love. The document emphasizes that God offers every spiritual blessing to those who are "in Christ" and asks how one can get "into Christ". It answers that the Scriptures speak of being "in Christ" as abiding or remaining in union with Christ, as depicted in John 15:4-7, rather than praying to get in.
This document discusses the New Testament church as described in the Bible. It notes that Jesus would build his church starting in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost in 33 AD. The church has Jesus as its founder and head, follows God's word as its only creed and law, and is made up of Christians, saints, and disciples. It outlines forms of worship in the early church including weekly communion, offerings, prayer, and teaching God's word. The document also describes the terms of entrance into the church as hearing, believing, repenting of sins, confessing faith, and baptism.

The document discusses the Bible verse 2 Timothy 3:16, which states that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. The document provides 4 versions of the verse translated differently, with commentary indicating the Scripture is given by God's inspiration and is profitable for instruction, conviction of sin, correction of errors, and training in holy living according to God's will.
Jesus was our righteousness, holiness, and redemptionGLENN PEASE
This is a study of how Jesus is our righteousness, holiness and redemption. He is our all in all and none one is more important in our lives than Jesus.
The Bible is all we need in order to live life and spread the good news of the gospel of Christ. While many deny it's authority, it gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
The document discusses spiritual apostasy as a sign of the end times. It states that spiritual apostasy will be a product of deception introduced by religious teachers, and will alter the principles of God and ultimately discredit God. It provides biblical references to support this, including passages that speak of departing from the faith due to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and people turning away from truth to myths introduced by teachers.
1. The church is not a building but a gathering of people called by God for a purpose.
2. God's purposes for the church are for it to be the bride of Christ, house of the Father, body of Christ, and family of the Father.
3. The ultimate goal and mission of the church is to glorify God and Jesus by proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, and spreading God's love and kingdom to all people.
Christ will appear with believers in glory. When Christ returns, believers will share in his manifestation and glory. Christ is the source and essence of believers' spiritual life. He authorizes and imparts eternal life. Believers' union with Christ means they possess his life and will share fully in his future appearance and glory. The document discusses how Christ is currently the pattern and sustainer of believers' life, and will be the consummation of their life in heaven.
Paul discusses how preaching Christ is important even when facing difficulties. Some preach with wrong motives like envy or ambition, but Christ is still being preached, and Paul finds joy in this. Paul is willing to live or die because living means spreading the gospel more, while dying means being with Christ. Believers must conduct themselves worthy of the gospel, stand firm together, and not fear suffering for their faith as it leads to salvation.
The document discusses principles for effective ministry based on Jesus' instructions to the apostles in Matthew 10:5-15. It outlines that disciples must (1) have a divine commission from God, (2) have a central objective or focus for their ministry work, and (3) understand the basic task of ministry is preaching the gospel. The passage specifically discusses how Jesus instructed the apostles to focus initially on the lost sheep of Israel, though the message was ultimately meant for all people.
THE SABBATH SCHOOL - 3st QUARTER 2020 - LESSON 7.Adam Hiola
The document discusses the importance and benefits of studying the Bible. It says that the Bible testifies of Jesus, who is its main theme. Studying the Bible transforms our lives, fills us with God's power, and enables us to share the gospel with others. The Bible is compared to symbols like light, fire, seed and bread that nourish our souls. God's word has the power to create and renew us when we let the Holy Spirit work through our study of scripture. The Bible contains promises from God to meet our needs and blessings that are unlocked through faith. Studying the Bible daily gives us wisdom to share it with others who are weary.
The document discusses the doctrine of the Holy Spirit by addressing common questions about the Spirit's identity and role. It explains that the Spirit, also called the Paraclete or Comforter, is the third person of the Trinity. While one in essence with God the Father and Son, the Spirit is a distinct person who continues Christ's ministry by abiding in believers, interceding on their behalf and helping them, especially in times of persecution. The document uses Scripture passages like John 14:16-26 to demonstrate the Spirit's personality and relationship with the Father, Son and believers.
The document discusses the third principle of effective ministry laid out by Jesus - having a clear message. [1] Jesus told the apostles to preach that "the kingdom of heaven is at hand". [2] The kingdom of heaven can be understood in three ways: conversion, consecration, and Christ's glorious return. [3] However, many churches preach a diluted form of the gospel rather than clearly explaining that the gospel calls us to fully commit ourselves and become true disciples of Jesus by denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following him completely.
This document discusses the concept of rest in Christianity. It explores what rest is and is not, according to scripture. The key points made are:
1. True rest is found in Jesus Christ, who invites us to find peace by communing with him and taking on his gentle yoke.
2. Rest does not mean idleness but allows us to cease from fruitless striving. It produces good works through salvation.
3. By learning from Jesus, we gain the freedom of knowing God and experiencing his unforced rhythms of grace.
True biblical rest is confidence in Christ, participation in his grace, and the freedom of our relationship with God and Jesus. It is the solution to
The document discusses the purpose of Christian assemblies based on passages from the New Testament. It argues that the main purposes of assemblies are for worshipping God, teaching God's word, edifying and encouraging believers, correcting sin, and evangelizing non-believers. Assemblies should include activities like prayer, singing, studying scripture, and preaching. The overall goal of assemblies is to please God and serve others, not just to have our own needs met. Understanding the biblical purposes of assemblies can help Christians better participate in and benefit from them.
Questions we must ask to find the answers to understand we are in Christ and how He views what we think. What are your answers to these questions? Take a look at what we came up with!
The document discusses why studying Bible doctrine is important. It argues that doctrinal study (1) gives an orderly understanding of biblical truths, (2) grounds our faith firmly in God's word, and (3) was important to Jesus, the disciples, Paul, and the early church. Right teaching leads to spiritual growth, maturity, freedom from deception, obedience to God's commands, and the ability to teach others. Studying doctrine helps protect against false teachings and brings spiritual riches.

This document provides commentary on 1 Timothy 4. It discusses several key points:
- False doctrines will arise in the latter times, including heresies that depart from the faith by following seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
- Specific false doctrines mentioned are forbidding marriage and commanding abstinence from certain foods. The Catholic Church and some Baptists forbid remarriage, and Catholics and others forbid certain foods.
- Timothy is instructed to warn the brethren of these false doctrines and exercise himself in godliness rather than old wives' tales. Godliness has promise for this life and the next.
- While physical exercise has limited benefits, godliness is profitable for

This document discusses what it means to "work out your salvation" based on Philippians 2:12-13. It argues that working out salvation does not mean earning it through self-effort, but rather living out the salvation one has already been given by cooperating with the Holy Spirit. Both human effort and God's grace are involved as believers strive to grow in holiness with God's empowerment.

Josiah's philosophy of ministry involves training disciples through mentoring and teaching to serve the church and community. He aims to provide pastoral counseling to those who are hurting. Prayer is also important to communicate with God and give Him glory. Josiah believes in personalized evangelism to proclaim Christ to others and networking with other believers to collaborate on preaching the Gospel. He hopes to hold purpose-driven events with spiritual discussions to reach youth.
This document provides an overview for a community evangelism seminar focusing on prayer and evangelism. It discusses the importance of prayer in evangelism efforts, outlines different ways to pray for evangelism and lost people, and provides tips for prayer walking in the community to spread the gospel.
The document discusses the definition, philosophy and principles of worship based on a training seminar given by Pastor Shaun Abrahams. It examines how worship is defined in the Bible, focusing on concepts like reverence, sacrifice, thankfulness and being spiritual and truthful. The document also explores different views on worship from theological scholars and outlines biblical principles for worship, including that music is a gift from God meant to worship Him and express His character.
This document discusses personal evangelism. It begins by defining what evangelism is and is not. Evangelism is sharing the good news of the gospel by pointing people to Christ, not debates or discussions.
The document then explains what we can and cannot do in evangelism. We cannot raise the dead, awaken others, reveal Christ's beauty, or produce faith - only God can do these things. Our role is to preach by living like Christians, praying for opportunities, noticing open doors, and offering Bible studies.
It emphasizes praying for God to work through our efforts and understanding that salvation is God's work, not ours. The goal of evangelism is glorifying God and sharing his word through meek
The document discusses several aspects of ecclesiology and the doctrine of the church. It defines the church as an assembly called by God to do his will. It describes the functions of the local church as worship, instruction, fellowship, ministry, and organization. It discusses the leaders of the local church as elders, pastors, and deacons. It also describes the two ordinances of the church as baptism and communion. The purpose of the church is said to be evangelism, fellowship, teaching, worship, and serving others. Paul continues to praise the Thessalonians for remaining strong in their faith despite facing persecution. He sends Timothy to check on their welfare and strengthen their faith. Timothy reports back that the Thessalonians have good faith and continue to love Paul and others, bringing Paul great joy and encouragement. Paul expresses his desire for them to remain blameless until Christ's return, and prays for their continued spiritual strength and growth.
The document discusses the benefits and nature of the Bible. It states that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible word of God. It should be the basis for all doctrine and teachings. The Bible benefits people by promising prosperity and success to those who obey it, converting lives, and providing guidance, among other benefits. It will never pass away. The Bible can be likened to seeds, food, a knife, honey, and other things. People of all times can find relevance in the Bible.
The document discusses what it means to pursue an everyday Christian life. It encourages pursuing God through obeying scripture, serving wherever called, and not allowing obstacles to deter from godly goals. Christians should pursue godly examples through words and actions, have love as their fundamental pursuit, and pursue God with zeal, faith and purity. The pattern for living comes from God's doctrines and truths, which should be meditated on and practiced. The document asks if the reader is pursuing the Christian life as they should and encourages obeying, believing, repenting of sin, confessing Christ, and being baptized.
In this presentation, Bro. Afoke Ben encouraged the brethren to be more committed in the activities of the Church and in being of good examples to their children. Read the presentation for more admonitions.

This document discusses the dangers of deserting or leaving the Christian faith. It warns that the devil will try to lure Christians away and make the world seem better than it is. It encourages enduring trials and not giving up faith, noting that Judas Iscariot and Benedict Arnold were traitors. It emphasizes that Christians must not straddle the fence between serving God and other things, and must choose to fully follow and serve God.

Paul taught the gospel in Thessalonica despite suffering opposition. He preached boldly and sincerely without impure motives, working hard but putting God first. Paul cared for new believers like a mother or father, encouraging and exhorting them. Some accepted the gospel enthusiastically as coming from God, while others became enemies opposed to the message.
The document discusses changing one's mindset and focusing on positive things. It suggests being content in any circumstances, having strength through God, renewing one's mind not to conform to the world, keeping one's mind hopeful and focused on God's grace, and setting one's mind on heavenly rather than earthly things. The document advocates focusing one's mind on things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, and worthy of praise in order to have a unique and positive mindset.
Anna was a prophetess in the temple who fasted and prayed constantly for over 60 years, even as a widow. When she saw Jesus in the temple with Mary and Joseph, she praised God and shared the good news with all who were waiting for redemption in Jerusalem, serving as an example of devotion and faith despite age or past circumstances.
We should want to go to heaven for three key reasons: 1) God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will be there, as well as biblical heroes and children. 2) We will spend eternity praising God. 3) There will be no more sin, sorrow, or separation from loved ones like on earth. Heaven is described as a fair land that believers can see by faith.
The document discusses the mercy seat from the Old Testament, which was the gold covering of the Ark of the Covenant where God met with the high priest. It says in the New Testament, our mercy seat is represented by taking communion together as a community, where we remember Jesus' blood sacrifice and find calm, Christ, community, and comfort. The passage encourages believers not to take for granted gathering at their mercy seat of communion.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
