A Multicore Parallelization of Continuous Skyline Queries on Data StreamsTiziano De Matteis
Skyline queries are a relevant example of preference queries frequently used in multi-criteria decision making to retrieve interesting points from large datasets. They return the points whose attribute vector is not dominated by any other point. Due to their importance in real-time scenarios, skyline queries have been studied both in terms of sequential algorithms and parallel implementations for multiprocessors and clusters. Recently, with the advent of the Data Stream Processing paradigm, skyline queries have been computed over continuous data streams according to the sliding window model. Although sequential algorithms have been proposed for continuous skyline queries, few works targeting modern parallel architectures exist. This paper contributes to the current literature by proposing a parallel implementation on multicores. We provide a description of our parallelization by focusing on the cooperation pattern between parallel functionalities, optimizations related to the reduce phase, and load-balancing strategies. Finally, we show experiments using different point distributions, arrival rates and window lengths.

# Internet Security: Safeguarding Your Digital World
In the contemporary digital age, the internet is a cornerstone of our daily lives. It connects us to vast amounts of information, provides platforms for communication, enables commerce, and offers endless entertainment. However, with these conveniences come significant security challenges. Internet security is essential to protect our digital identities, sensitive data, and overall online experience. This comprehensive guide explores the multifaceted world of internet security, providing insights into its importance, common threats, and effective strategies to safeguard your digital world.
## Understanding Internet Security
Internet security encompasses the measures and protocols used to protect information, devices, and networks from unauthorized access, attacks, and damage. It involves a wide range of practices designed to safeguard data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Effective internet security is crucial for individuals, businesses, and governments alike, as cyber threats continue to evolve in complexity and scale.
### Key Components of Internet Security
1. **Confidentiality**: Ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to access it.
2. **Integrity**: Protecting information from being altered or tampered with by unauthorized parties.
3. **Availability**: Ensuring that authorized users have reliable access to information and resources when needed.
## Common Internet Security Threats
Cyber threats are numerous and constantly evolving. Understanding these threats is the first step in protecting against them. Some of the most common internet security threats include:
### Malware
Malware, or malicious software, is designed to harm, exploit, or otherwise compromise a device, network, or service. Common types of malware include:
- **Viruses**: Programs that attach themselves to legitimate software and replicate, spreading to other programs and files.
- **Worms**: Standalone malware that replicates itself to spread to other computers.
- **Trojan Horses**: Malicious software disguised as legitimate software.
- **Ransomware**: Malware that encrypts a user's files and demands a ransom for the decryption key.
- **Spyware**: Software that secretly monitors and collects user information.
### Phishing
Phishing is a social engineering attack that aims to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details. Attackers often masquerade as trusted entities in email or other communication channels, tricking victims into providing their information.
### Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) Attacks
MitM attacks occur when an attacker intercepts and potentially alters communication between two parties without their knowledge. This can lead to the unauthorized acquisition of sensitive information.
### Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks

Wireless communication involves the transmission of information over a distance without the help of wires, cables or any other forms of electrical conductors.
Wireless communication is a broad term that incorporates all procedures and forms of connecting and communicating between two or more devices using a wireless signal through wireless communication technologies and devices.
Features of Wireless Communication

The transmitted distance can be anywhere between a few meters (for example, a television's remote control) and thousands of kilometers (for example, radio communication).
Wireless communication can be used for cellular telephony, wireless access to the internet, wireless home networking, and so on.
2. What is flendr?
flendr is an online platform that allows people
to:
• Lend money between family and friends
• Group Collections
• Fundraising
3. How it Works?
• Create an account and your own personal page for
whichever purpose you need it for.
• State the details what you are raising money for or why
you are asking for money
• Then send it to your friends! They can make
contributions and you can write up an agreement if
you are loaning out money
• Then once you reach your deadline or money goal you
we will transfer the money into your account.
4. For Borrowers
• Set up. Create an account for money transfers and 'borrowing
activity' e.g deposit for a car. List how much you need, for how long,
frequency of repayments, and if you want to pay back extra 'thank
you’s' to your friends (an added % of what they lend).
• Invite friends and family. Send them personalised emails and links
to your Loan Page. We'll ping you every time a contribution is
received.
• Get funded. When you've reached your target, we'll release your
funds and automatically handle money transfers in and out,
repayments and reminders through your Flendr account.
5. For Lenders
• Set up. Your borrower will set up a Loan Page with flendr -
detailing how much they want, for how long, and the
repayment frequency. You can send a 'loan prompt' to get
the Page going.
• Lend. If you’d like to lend some or all of the loan, you just
go ahead and do that securely online.
• Auto reminders. flendr sends reminders when repayments
are due, receives the money and transfers it to you
according to the schedule you've agreed. Note that your
borrower might want to use their track record of good
repayments to help improve their credit profile.
6. For Collectors
• Set up. Create your collections page with as much detail as
you like, including if you expect a certain amount per
person.
• Tell everyone. Set up a flendr account so money can be
transferred, and send out your page link. Friends can click
through and contribute easily and securely.
• Get funded. You'll get alerts as contributions come in and
be able to check who has paid what in your flendr account.
When you've reached your target or end date, all the funds
will be deposited automatically into your bank account.
7.
8. For Fundraising
• Set up. From cake bakes to school swims, create
your fundraising page, describing what you're
doing.
• Promote. Send out your page link to friends far
and wide.
• Get funded. We'll email as donations come in
and you can check the details any time in your
Flendr account.
9.
10. Reasons to use flendr
• Borrowing and lending out money to friends and family
can cause unwanted tension and stress especially if
there is no contract or written agreement in place
• flendr sends out email reminders to notify the
borrower to pay you back and you will also receive
notification alerts whenever a transaction is made so
you can stay on top of all your expenses
• flendr is for everyone and we make it easy
11. flendr Fees
• For our services we charge a 2% fee from all
money raised and collected
• That’s just 20p for every £10
• As for lending money, we charge a £1 fee per
borrower
