challenges, including adjustment disorder, divorce, life transitions, marriage counseling, learning
challenges, and many others.
What Are Learning Challenges?
Affecting people of all ages, learning challenges are common and sometimes result with
discouraged and frustrated people, especially students who don’t understand why they struggle
with a particular task or subject when others seem to find it reasonably simple. They wish to do
better in their studies, yet no amount of effort seems to be enough. While a learning disability is a
more severe condition, students with learning challenges may sometimes be mistaken for learning
disabled persons. Both groups suffer from learning difficulties but the group that has mild or no
learning disabilities may have primarily depression, anxiety, social challenges, situational stress,
are perhaps more perfectionistic than others or suffer from ADHD. Both groups may need
assessment and treatment of the specific emotional and executive functioning issues.
What Are Learning Challenges?
The key to overcoming learning challenges is to identify the cause or causes of the problem, and
once they have been identified, a program can be designed to gradually remove its effect, thereby
allowing the person to achieve efficiency. Depending on the amount of stress induced by the
challenges, a student may need the intervention of an expert, typically a psychologist and/or an
educator, to get help moving toward a more efficient state.
What Are Learning Challenges?
Getting a low grade, failing a course, being unable to keep up with one's studies, failing to keep
important information in mind, and pointless efforts are learning challenges some students face in
their academics. Without medication it is possible for all people to improve their efficiency, with an
educational and psychological help. For example, learning to manage time, how to prevent
distractions, setting goals, self-monitoring, self-talk, and self-reinforcement, when done the right
way, can help students overcome learning challenges.
