1. Whatdoes the protagonist want?
2. Write a catchy first paragraph or sentence.
Examples:Everyonein theoffice turned and stared.

3. DevelopCharacters
Thinkof the followingdetails:
Appearance.Givesyour readera visual understandingof the character.
Action. Show the readerwhatkindof personyourcharacter is,bydescribing
actionsrather thansimplylistingadjectives.
Speech.Developthe characterasa person — don’tmerelyhave your
character announce importantplotdetails.
Thought. Bringthe readerintoyourcharacter’s mind,toshow themyour
