to talk about our province.
Our province is Lodi, in Lombardy (in the north of Italy). It is very pretty, but is
small.
The most important city is Lodi. It isn’t a big city and it has got 44401 inhabitants.
Five municipalities in the province have been awarded the title of city: Codogno,
Casalpusterlengo, Lodi Vecchio and Sant'Angelo Lodigiano
Our province is situated in the Po Valley.
There are two rivers that run trough it: the river Po and the river Adda.
The land of the Province is one of the most important Italian centers for farming
and breeding. The Lodi area covers approximately 780 km ² and is almost entirely
surrounded by the right bank of the Adda, the left bank of the Lambro and the left
bank of the Po. Natural and artificial waterways are typical elements, and the
landscape is characterised by a regular plain slightly inclined from north to south-
east (gradient of about 1.5 per cent). The only exception is the limited highness of
the hills of San Colombano al Lambro, reaching the maximum elevation of 144
meters above the sea level. The land is typically alluvial, generally composed of
sand or siliceous limestone or clayey siliceous and calcareous combined with layer
of calcium carbonate, often mixed with alumina, forming the vegetable and arable
crust
