Welcome to Georgia Perimeter College.
New Student Orientation
I am honored to serve as Interim President of Georgia
Perimeter College. GPC provides access to a college
education for students who might otherwise not have that
opportunity. From Alpharetta, to Dunwoody, to Clarkston, to
Decatur, to Newton, and Online, GPC has been a better way
forward for two generations of students. We are working
now to prepare for the next generation as a part of Georgia
State University.
A Message From GPC Interim President Rob Watts
 It is our pleasure to provide you with guidance and information that will be helpful to you—the
successful college student and future graduate of Georgia Perimeter College. This orientation should
take approximately 10 minutes to compete. This presentation will provide you with an overview of:
 GPC at a Glance
 Title IX
 Student Resources and Services
 Financial Aid/FAFSA
 Academic Calendar
 Advising Tools
 Student Email Account
 ID Services
 It is very important to complete the student questionnaire at the end of this orientation so that a
hold can be removed from your record. Once you finish the questionnaire, you will be prompted to
schedule a New Student Orientation Part 2 to meet with an Academic Advisor.
Good Luck and Welcome to Georgia Perimeter College!

Student Resources and Services
Financial Aid
 It is important that your education be affordable. Choosing a college is one of the most
important decisions you will make in your life and it is a decision that comes with a
cost. Luckily, there are many financial aid options available that can help you finance your
college dreams. The GPC Student Financial Service Offices, which includes: financial aid,
Veteran Affairs, and Student Accounts are here to help you locate, apply for, and meet the
requirements for all the financial aid for which you qualify.
 What is Financial Aid?
 Assistance to help pay for your college cost through Federal Programs: grants, work-
study and loans, State Programs, Institutional and/or Outside aid.
 College can be one of the greatest experiences in your life. The student Financial Service
office is here to assist you in making that happen. For additional questions you may
have, please review our website, visit a campus office, or contact us at 678-891-3535.
 Georgia Perimeter College Federal School Code 001562
 Hours of operation: M,W,TH,F 8:00am – 5:00 pm; TUES 8:00am – 7:00 pm
Financial Aid/FAFSA
 Completing your FAFSA
 One of the most essential steps of the financial aid process is the completion of the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid, or what is commonly referred to as the FAFSA. Once
the FAFSA has been completed, the information is processed by the United States
Department of Education and the results are forwarded to schools listed on the Student
Aid Report (SAR).
 First Time GPC Filers:
 The earlier you file your FAFSA, the more options for aid you will have. Our priority
processing deadline for the FAFSA for the 2015-2016 academic year is April 1, 2015. The
FAFSA is available for completion on the first day of the calendar year (January 1st.) Keep
in mind that your FAFSA will be used for the entire academic year. For example, the 2014-
2015 FAFSA is used for Fall 2014, Spring 2015 and Summer 2015. The 2015-2016 FAFSA
will be used from Fall 2015 to Summer 2016. If you have any questions as to which FAFSA
to file, please contact our office at 678-891-3535.
Important dates and timelines can be found on the GPC Academic Calendar (gpc.edu/calendar/academic/).
Always check the academic calendar before making any adjustments to your registration.
 Registration (Schedule Adjustment) – Students can make adjustments to their schedule during this
period. Students may add class to or drop classes from their registration.
 Payment Due dates – Payments or Financial Aid awards should be posted by payment due date.
 Classes – Shows the first and last day of classes & midterm/final exam schedule.
 No Show (Drop for Non-Attendance)– Is reported when students do not attend or never logs-in for an
online class during the first full week of classes.
 Withdrawal dates – Students who withdraw after Schedule Adjustment and before the semester
midpoint will receive a grade of ‘W’.
 College Closing Dates – Are dates listed that classes will not meet and/or the college is closed.

Keep in mind that your FAFSA will be used for the entire academic year. For example, the 2014- 2015 FAFSA is used for Fall 2014, Spring 2015 and Summer 2015. The 2015-2016 FAFSA will be used from Fall 2015 to Summer 2016. If you have any questions as to which FAFSA to file, please contact our office at 678-891-3535.
