• Part 1) 500 words.
• Describe the process of finding and selecting reading material with examples from your weekly
reading and summarising activities.
• You have had to choose one piece of reading from a choice of three for Part 2 of this
assignment. Why did you choose the one you are using?
• Part 2) 500 words.
• You have two short articles. What are the authors saying? Write a short summary of each. You
will all have to use article 1 but can choose from article 2, 3 and 4 as your second.

4. This assignment is designed to show that
you have fulfilled learning objectives 1
and 2 of the module:
• Find and evaluate information
• Present writing in an academic writing
style
So, this means that in Part 1 you have to show that
you know what type of information you should be
using, why certain types of information are better
than others, and how you find these better
sources. Give some examples of how you have
found specific articles.
For Part 2, you need to summarise the main
argument in each. For the very top marks, you
could consider how they compare and contrast.
5. This assignment is designed to show that
you have fulfilled learning objectives 1
and 2 of the module:
• Find and evaluate information
• Present writing in an academic writing
style
This also means that you
need to use an academic
writing style throughout.
For example, avoid using
‘I’, and use good
paragraph structures.
Finally, look back at previous week’s resources and
activities, and read through the grading criteria behind
the Assessment Guide on Canvas.

This is so the students feel they have some agency in their next step. As long as they are doing some preparation, they can choose what would work best for them.
