The student was originally in a TV production program in high school but wanted to become a news anchor instead of a director. They were unsure whether to switch programs from film to media communications due to the different career focuses. After speaking to an advisor who suggested the switch, the student felt relieved to be pursuing their passion for broadcast journalism in the media communications program.

1. Before I started the MCBS program, I was in TV Production in my high school.

2. It was a major part of my high school career.
Date

3. I had always thought I wanted to be the director for Good Morning America.

4. I had fallen in love with the process of writing, directing, shooting, and editing the show.

5. But then I had a change of heart and decided I want to be an anchor instead.

6. I loved the process, but didn’t think I could handle the day to day stress.
Date

7. Because of that, I did not know if I should have changed out of the Film program into
Media Communications.

8. I knew the Film program was mainly for editing, directing, lighting, etc. and knew they
did not offer anything for Journalism.

9. Because of that, I spoke with my student advisor, and he suggested that I make the switch.

10. I really did not know what to do, I needed help.
Date

11. Because of that, I am now in the Media Communications program.
Date

12. And I am now surrounded by people that understand my true passion.
Date

13. Until finally I will graduate in the Spring of 2015.

14. After that, I look forward to a long and successful career in broadcast journalism.

15. And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media, I feel as if a weight has lifted off
of my shoulders, because I now know what I want to do for the rest of my life.
