2. Christmas
In Australia, we celebrate
Christmas on the 25th
of
December every year. It
began as a celebration of
the birth of Jesus. But for
many Australians,
Christmas is about family,
sharing time, stories and
presents. Children believe
in Santa Claus.
3. Santa Claus
Most children in Australia
believe Santa Claus comes
down their chimney on
Christmas Eve to leave presents
under the Christmas tree.
Good children receive presents,
bad children get coal. Santa
also visits children through
December at Christmas parties,
schools, in shopping centres
and hospitals.
6. Christmas Foods
• A few types of meat; chicken, lamb, turkey, pork
• Seafood; prawns, fish, oysters
• Roast vegetables
• Cold meats
• Salads
• Fruit
• Christmas pudding, pavlova
• Cold drinks
7. Christmas Carols
Australia has traditional English Christmas
Carols and also Australian Carols. This is a
parody of Jingle Bells.
