Michelle Belden conducted a user study of the Penn State Special Collections website in Spring 2011. The study involved recruiting subjects and having them complete tasks on the website while thinking aloud. The goals were to test the usability of the website and identify areas for improvement. Observations from the study showed that subjects struggled with terminology, navigating lengthy text, and finding collections by subject. Immediate changes were made to address these issues, and further changes were proposed, including reorganizing content by subject and improving search capabilities.
