2. What is aWebsite?
•A website or simply a site, is a collection of
related web pages, including multimedia
content, typically identified with a common
domain name, and published on at least one
web server.
3. Meaning ofWebsite Development Process
•Website Development refers to the tasks
associated with developing a website for
hosting via intranet(private network) or
internet.
4. Website design phases
Designing a website is a process consisting of seven(7) phases:
• Information gathering
• Planning
• Design
• Development
• Testing
• Launching
• Maintenance
5. INFORMATION GATHERING
• The first step in designing a successful web site is to gather information. We first ask a lot of
questions to help us understand your business and your needs in a web site.
• Certain questions to be considered:
• What is the purpose of the site?
• What do you hope to accomplish by building this web site?
• Is there a specific group of people that will help you reach your goals?
• What kind of information will the target audience be looking for on your site?
6. PLANNING
• Here we develop a site map – a list of all main topic areas of the site, as well
as sub-topics (if applicable).
• This gives us a guide as to what content will be on the site.
• The timeline of the website is also considered
7. DESIGN
• Drawing from the information gathered up to this point, we determine the
look and feel(visual display) of the site.
• Target audience is one of the key factors taken into consideration here.
• In this phase, communication is crucial to ensure that the final web site will
match your needs and taste.
8. DEVELOPMENT
• This is where the web site itself is created.
• We take all of the individual graphic elements from the prototype and use them to create the
functional web site.
• We also take your content and distribute it throughout the site, in the appropriate areas.
• This entire time, you will continue to be able to view your site in the Client Studio, and suggest
any additional changes or corrections you would like to have done.
9. TESTING
• Before the site is launched, it will be placed on a production server where
only internal audiences and anyone who you share the link with can view it.
• At this stage the site will need to be reviewed on multiple browsers and
multiple devices.
10. LAUNCHING
• .You’ve tested the site, had it reviewed and approved by the project stakeholders,
and you’re ready to launch.
• But once the site is launched, the project isn’t over — you should be prepared to
address feedback from users adapting to the new site.
• Expect to make some immediate changes to the site, such as fixing broken links,
editing copy and making adjustments.
11. MAINTENANCE
• The development of your web site is not necessarily over, though. One way
to bring repeat visitors to your site is to offer new content or products on a
regular basis.
• We offer maintenance packages at reduced rates, based on how often you
anticipate making changes or additions to your site.
