Powerpoint was originally designed by Dr. Cindy Royal. The document discusses the history and categories of web development including basic HTML design from the early 1990s using HTML and CSS. It describes the emergence of web programming using server-side languages like PHP, Python and Ruby as well as databases and content management systems. Blog platforms, web frameworks, and challenges of web development are also summarized.
This document discusses how libraries are using the open source content management system Drupal. Drupal provides a flexible architecture that allows libraries to support different types of content on their websites and create custom modules. It also enables libraries to build intranets with modules for events, forms, and taxonomies. Additionally, Drupal functions as a social networking tool with features like groups, feeds, and chat. Libraries have implemented Drupal for digital collections, merging catalogs with websites, and other innovative projects. Drupal provides a platform for libraries to adapt technologies to their needs.
This document discusses consuming UW web services data in Drupal. It introduces the UW People, UW GWS Auth, and UW Courses modules, which pull data from the UW People and Course web services using a custom Locally Trusted Service (LTS) plugin model. The LTS manages API keys and certificates securely and provides the data to Drupal, which then stores it as nodes for easy querying, filtering, and display with Views and other features.
The document discusses how the New York State Senate used Drupal to create a new public website to increase transparency, efficiency, and public participation. Key goals were to modernize technology, provide constituent services like news updates and casework tools, and share information through features like legislative data and video streams. Drupal was chosen as the content management system due to its wide use, features for stakeholder needs, and developer community support. The new site launched in 2011 and saw increased citizen engagement through interactive features.

This document provides an introduction to the semantic web. It discusses the early development of the web and issues with resource discovery. Librarians helped develop metadata standards like Dublin Core to improve discovery. XML provided syntax but not semantics. The semantic web aims to give information well-defined meaning so computers and people can better cooperate. It is built on RDF, ontologies, and URIs to unambiguously define relationships between data from different sources. Significant work is still needed to develop shared schemas and ontologies to fully realize the semantic web.

One fifth of the world's poor live in South Asia, with 26% of Indians living below the poverty line. Poverty is concentrated in rural areas and three states - Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh - account for half of India's poor. Low income and lack of healthcare contribute to high female illiteracy and infant mortality rates. While India's economy is growing, wealth is unevenly distributed and many rely on agriculture for income. Efforts to alleviate poverty include microfinance programs and government poverty elimination plans, and India's middle class is growing rapidly.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
