Christmas
Around the World
“Do all the countries around the world
have the same customs and traditions
at Christmas?”
English Teacher - Rosa Rodríguez
Level: Primary 5th
2. Christmas is one of the most exciting holidays of the year.
We all have traditions and customs that help us to look
forward to this time of the year. But it would be wrong to
assume that it is only celebrated among the Christians.
With the world becoming a global village, Christmas is now
celebrated in many countries around the world.
During this webquest,
you will learn
about
Christmas customs and traditions
in some countries around the world.
I hope you like it!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
3. Introduction
Your Mission:
Investigate the customs of another
country and report back.
Objective:
Upon completion of the webquest
students will be able describe the
celebration of Christmas in other
cultures and will create a power point
presentation to share with the class.
4. Traditions are an important
part of the culture of a group of
people.
One of our traditions is the way we
celebrate holidays, such as
Christmas.
There is no ideal
Christmas;
only the one Christmas
you decide to make
as a reflection of your
values,
desires, affections,
traditions.
5. Do other countries celebrate the
way we do?
Do their celebrations include gifts,
decorations, special music and
food?
6. Task
Your mission is to find the following
information for the country you are sent to:
Name of country
How do they say "Merry Christmas"
Location (on a map )
Flag
Reason for celebration
Gifts (including who brings them)
Decorations
Pictures and things that people do on
Christmas eve and christmas day
Special Food drink &/or Music

these traditions create a power
point to share with the class.
8. Process
Form groups of four students.
Choose a country.
Search the information related
to the country your group has
chosen.
Prepare a PowerPoint of your
country because when you
finish it, your group will make
an oral presentation to your
partners.
9. Step 1: Follow the links provided to learn
the traditions of the country you
have been sent to.
Step 2: Take notes about the customs you
will need to report on.
Step 3: Create a power point to share with
the class which explains each of the areas listed.

a title slide, an introductory slide, five or more slides
describing the customs and a concluding slide.
Step 5: You will need to include at least 4 graphics and
a transition between the slides. Sound and animation
are not required but may be included.
