How Insurers Fueled Transformation During a PandemicNuxeo
For many insurers, the past year has accelerated strategic investments to manage remote workforces, support virtual claims handling, and face off with FinTech upstarts.
In this webinar, we look at how leading insurers not only addressed the immediate challenges caused by global lockdowns but also found new efficiencies along the way. Get insights into some of the emerging technologies that are driving innovation in insurance, including the Cloud, artificial intelligence, and low-code. We also explore how these technologies reduce claims leakage while improving claims accuracy, employee productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Big Data is a topic that in on the strategic agenda of almost every organization. The demand for Big Data professionals keeps growing, and there is already a shortage in capacity of qualified and skilled people in this domain. As a result, a war on talent for the most qualified people in the industry has begun.
Are you interested in the domain of Big Data and Data Science, but wondering where to start? In this webinar, a select panel of experts from the Big Data Framework, DAMA (Data Management Association) and training organizations will discuss the problems and opportunities presented by the explosion of Big Data which has taken place in the last two years.
The panel will discuss how to get started with Big Data, both from an enterprise point of view (through strategy, processes and technology) as well as an individual point of view (which skills and knowledge do you need). The panel will discuss practical information and tips that will help you to get started in the Big world of Big Data.
Panellists include: Andrew Smailes – Australian National President of the Data Management Association (DAMA), Vincent Marsi, Director at HiLogic, Jan-Willem Middelburg, VP Asia at Pink Elephant, Shane Johnson, Principal Consultant at ITSMHub and Lawrie Kirk, Business Development Manager in Australia and New Zealand.

Falcon.io | 2021 Trends Virtual Summit - Data PrivacyFalcon.io
Two years after Cambridge Analytica, personal data is still at the forefront of the conversation. Consumers all vehemently care about what companies do with their data. Privacy is on everyone’s mind (not just the older, wealthier bracket). The pandemic has only accelerated these concerns, which marked 2020 as a significant year for data management. As businesses face new technological challenges amid COVID-19, the topic of privacy has drawn an increasingly bright spotlight. This sensitivity regarding data privacy has only been growing — and companies are responding accordingly.
Oceans of big data: Take the plunge or wade in slowly?Deloitte Canada
In a recent study, Deloitte identified some of the hurdles that keep organizations from making greater use of business analytics. These include poor technology infrastructure, the quality and amount of data being collected and leadership that may not support or even understand the use of analytics.
This presentation defines big data, explains why you should care about big data, and suggests when big data should be used. The potential of big data is immense, but it can also become an expensive distraction. Once you remove constraints on the size, type, source and complexity of useful data, you can ask the ‘crunchy’ questions that are critical to the success of your business.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
