Web services are growing rapidly and bringing new security issues, so it is important to assess security risks. This paper discusses methods for gathering information about web services through footprinting, discovery and fingerprints. It focuses on the initial phase of gathering information by using Universal Business Registry and technology fingerprinting to identify web services listed in UDDI registries and perform discovery. The goal is to cover the full methodology for gathering initial information about web services.
