Web design has evolved significantly over the past 15 years. In the late 1990s, websites had generic layouts with little connection to content and a simple "Word document" style. Between 2000-2005, design began matching content better with strong identities, more navigation options, and active user-centered approaches. Today, established pre-2000 websites have consistent designs while newer websites since 2005 continue developing novel designs, driving new trends in web design.
