In the first episode of the Tech Girl Podcasts from July 2010, the host discusses the concept of Web 2.0 and how it enables user-manipulated content, collaboration, and information sharing through technologies like social media, blogs, wikis, file sharing, and content aggregation. The podcast credits various images used from sites like Flickr, blogs, universities, and technology companies to illustrate these Web 2.0 concepts.
Impero software enables teachers to manage student behavior online, network managers to control devices and content access, and school leaders to enforce internet policies and identify at-risk students. The software's key features include classroom management tools, keyword detection policies for issues like cyberbullying and self-harm, anonymous student reporting of concerns, and screen monitoring capabilities. Impero is designed to help schools meet Ofsted requirements for online safety practices through a balanced approach of student empowerment and risk mitigation.
This document discusses web browser security and contains three key points:
1) Users should log out of websites storing sensitive information like banking and payroll when using browsers to prevent others from accessing private data.
2) If unauthorized access is suspected, users should immediately notify their supervisor, the Office of University Counsel, and the Information Security Office.
3) Timely notification of any unauthorized access incident is vital to minimize potential harm, and the university is required to take steps to lessen harmful effects.
This document proposes a standardized cyber security education platform to address the lack of cybersecurity training. It notes that 52% of security breaches are caused by human error due to inadequate user education. The proposed platform would provide cross-platform security training modules in an gamified format to certify users without requiring in-depth technical knowledge. This could incentivize colleges and companies to provide cybersecurity education to users. Financial projections estimate charging $4-6 per student and $2-4 per faculty member based on completing training modules. The milestones include implementing a prototype with a college IT department and involving more campuses and nationwide colleges over time.
This document outlines a senior project to add social networking features to Moodle forums. It defines problems with Moodle's current forum functionality and lack of community building. Use cases are presented for posting comments and searching forums. The system will be built using open source tools like LAMP stack and integrate with Moodle and Facebook. It addresses authentication, authorization, and privacy considerations. Test cases are described to validate the post comment functionality on mobile devices under sunny and rainy day conditions.
This document discusses student privacy and technology. It emphasizes that schools must have an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Digital Citizenship Plan that addresses the risks and benefits of technology use. It also introduces the concept of LAFOIP, which governs how educators handle student information in Saskatchewan. When using web tools, apps or cloud technology, educators should consider three big questions regarding student privacy: who owns the information, how erasable is the information, and who has access to the information. Having awareness of privacy issues is stressed as the most important factor.

The document describes a new interactive tutorial framework called DTorial that is designed for blind users of web applications. DTorial embeds tutorial content directly into web applications to provide context and allow users to easily apply lessons without switching windows. It was developed through interviews with visually impaired users and an iterative design/evaluation process with 17 users. DTorial aims to reduce barriers for blind users in learning new web applications by addressing limitations of traditional tutorials through embedded, dynamic, and audio-based content and by mitigating issues with screen readers and dynamic web applications.

HijackLoader Evolution: Interactive Process HollowingDonato Onofri
CrowdStrike researchers have identified a HijackLoader (aka IDAT Loader) sample that employs sophisticated evasion techniques to enhance the complexity of the threat. HijackLoader, an increasingly popular tool among adversaries for deploying additional payloads and tooling, continues to evolve as its developers experiment and enhance its capabilities.
In their analysis of a recent HijackLoader sample, CrowdStrike researchers discovered new techniques designed to increase the defense evasion capabilities of the loader. The malware developer used a standard process hollowing technique coupled with an additional trigger that was activated by the parent process writing to a pipe. This new approach, called "Interactive Process Hollowing", has the potential to make defense evasion stealthier.
