The World Bank Gender Action Plan aims to advance women's economic empowerment in client countries to promote shared growth and accelerate progress on the UN Millennium Development Goal of promoting gender equality. It focuses on making markets work for women by empowering them to compete in product, financial, land, and labor markets through targeted policy reforms and initiatives at the agency level. The plan will be implemented through four main action areas that engage operations and technical assistance, implement results-based initiatives, improve research and statistics, and provide oversight.
