For 12,000 years, the Mississippi River has powered through Minnesota, where it’s scrawled a deep gorge like a signature through limestone and prairie. The source of this massive geological imprint was the River’s only true waterfall, now known as St. Anthony Falls, which receded over millennia and now graces the heart of Minneapolis. It is this unique geography, geology and history that inspired a schematic vision for a new destination park on the West Bank of St. Anthony Falls, developed by the Minneapolis Parks Foundation in partnership with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, and conveyed to Park Board Commissioners on Wednesday, October 22, in the form of a design presentation and 3D flythrough animation.
- Two public open houses were held to discuss the Water Works Mezzanine Phase project with over 20 community groups. Archaeological exploration of the site was also conducted.
- The project has selected a food vendor and is finalizing an exclusive rights agreement. Construction is ongoing, including deconstruction of the former Fuji Ya building and rehabilitation of the mill walls.
- Fundraising has reached $12.3 million of the $15 million goal. The project budget is being finalized and construction is planned to be completed by Spring 2020.

This document provides an agenda and information for a community design workshop regarding a potential new park site. It includes details on the site parameters such as zoning, lighting and noise restrictions, wetlands, drainage, and transportation access. It summarizes the results of community outreach, including themes from youth, seniors, Latino residents, and neighbors. The April 16 design workshop is outlined, including a presentation on background and engagement findings, followed by a voting exercise where participants provided input on park usage times, lighting, and funding options. Participants then worked in groups to translate ideas and values into physical models to influence the planning process. Key findings recognized the desire for a variety of active and passive recreational opportunities to serve a diverse community. Guiding principles
The proposed CRA Park design provides much needed green space and amenities to the underserved neighborhood. However, it lacks a bold identity and fails to differentiate itself from other parks. While the design has positive elements like activities for all ages and community engagement opportunities, it clusters all programmed uses together and lacks clear circulation. The team's vision aims to address these weaknesses by creating a signature three-zone park with adventure playgrounds and a woonerf street to improve safety, traffic, and neighborhood identity.
Agora Planning presented survey results, an outreach summary, and site parameters regarding the proposed Westside Community Park on Monday, April 25th, 2016.

This report is a synthesis of the ideas generated from a day-long design charrette in June 2011, and represents the community’s vision for a new waterfront open space. MAS released the report to the NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and their consultant for the project, AECOM, with the intention of guiding the future transformation of the former Con Ed Pier into a new community park.
This is the turning point for waterfront access along the East Side of Midtown and is a continuation of MAS’ long standing commitment to bringing New Yorkers back to the waterfront and ensuring that the communities have a voice in shaping their future.
The document outlines a vision to transform the Figueroa Corridor by linking Downtown Los Angeles and USC through street improvements that encourage walking, community cohesion, public transit, and economic development. It identifies three key criteria to achieve this vision: 1) allocating public space fairly for various modes of transportation; 2) designing the street at a human scale with building edges; and 3) making building facades and hubs of activity more inviting to pedestrians. A series of strategies are proposed, including rezonings to create unique districts, establishing public shared spaces, infilling underutilized areas with parks, and engaging the community.
The document proposes a public art strategy for a site in Parramatta that is being transformed into a new precinct. The strategy includes analyzing the site and surrounding context, developing guiding principles, and providing options for public art interventions. The recommended interventions are to create a floating stage, outdoor gallery, laneway art, water feature, and share zones to activate the space, tell the story of the place, and strengthen its relationship to the surrounding context.
The document summarizes observations and proposed redesigns for public spaces in Pyrmont, Sydney. It observes the existing conditions of Pirrama Park, Metcalfe Park, Ballaarat Park, and Pirrama Road, noting issues like a lack of activities and poor pedestrian circulation. The proposed redesigns include extending the boardwalk, adding new seating and facilities to Pirrama Park, dividing Metcalfe Park into activity zones, extending Ballaarat Park to the waterfront, and adding accessible paths and a cafe to Pirrama Road. The redesigns aim to improve accessibility, activities, and movement between the public spaces.
This document summarizes the scope and progress of a multi-use pathway, wetlands trail boardwalk, and pavement rehabilitation project along Fairpoint Drive and Shoreline Loop in an unnamed city. It includes 3 elements: a 4-mile multi-use pathway, a boardwalk through wetlands between a park and neighborhoods, and repaving 1.3 miles of road. The project has completed conceptual design, received public input at workshops, and aims to increase safety, connectivity and access between areas while rehabilitating existing infrastructure. Bidding and construction are planned for 2020.

This document provides a summary of Monte John Latham's career experience as an architect. It lists his roles and projects from 1988 to present, including working as an architect in both the public and private sectors in Tasmania. His experience ranges from municipal architecture and town planning projects to small residential works. He has participated in numerous urban design and master planning projects across Tasmania.
This document provides a design and activation plan for a 1.5km stretch of the Parramatta River foreshore in Parramatta City. It aims to enhance the river as a public asset by improving connections to and along the foreshore, activating the space with mixed uses, and ensuring new development considers heritage and the environment. Key elements include River Squares with terraces and cafes; a cultural quarter focused on arts and events; and turning a section of the river into an "urban beach". The plan is broken into river quarters with specific design proposals to achieve the objectives of activating the space and strengthening the city's connection to the river.
This document provides background information on the creation of the Orange Avenue Overlay District in Winter Park, Florida. It discusses the history of Orange Avenue and goals for revitalizing the area. These include encouraging mixed-use development, enhancing connectivity, and creating a walkable district that promotes arts, culture, and local businesses. The document outlines how an overlay district will modify zoning to achieve this vision. It also discusses how the overlay aligns with the community's Vision Winter Park plan and comprehensive plan goals around maintaining character, economic vitality, and a balanced transportation system.
The meeting will focus on Phase I improvements to Hearst Park funded for 2018, including a new graded field, irrigation, playground shade, walking trails, bio-filtration area, plantings, site furnishings, and ADA improvements. Phase II plans for 2019 include construction of a new pool and pool house while keeping work south of the existing tennis fence and away from heritage trees. Next steps include updating the ANC on the meeting, posting materials online, and procuring a general contractor for Phase I work beginning in early 2018 with a follow-up community meeting.
Cost overrun of marina bay sands, SingapureRoman Shrestha
The Marina Bay Sands project in Singapore experienced a significant cost overrun of 58.42%, with the final project cost reaching $8 billion compared to the initial estimate of $3.85 billion. Major factors for the cost overrun included construction delays, bankruptcy of subcontractors, heavy rainfall, and inflation. This almost caused the owner, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, to go bankrupt. While the cost overrun negatively impacted profits, through additional investments and improved project management, Marina Bay Sands is now profitable and earns over $1 billion annually.

The presentation evaluated two potential sites for the Council for Watershed Health's new headquarters: Block 20 and Block 48/49. Block 20 is located near the LA River and Metro Gold Line in an industrial area known as an "art haven". The vision for Block 20's headquarters included rehabilitating the historic building, adding bioswales for rainwater capture, and developing community spaces. It was seen as an opportunity to demonstrate sustainable redevelopment of an existing building and engage the local artist community.
The document proposes a design to revitalize the riverfront areas of Blocks E and G in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The underlying concept is to rediscover and bring the Mithi River back into the public realm. It involves developing the neglected riverfront area with esplanades, promenades and green spaces to make it people-friendly. The proposal also aims to strengthen connectivity between the blocks and improve pedestrian movement by introducing pedestrian bridges and ramps. Case studies of successful riverfront developments elsewhere provide inspiration for the concept. The project is planned to be implemented in phases and could seek funding from various government and private sources.

The City of Casselberry has begun taking a more rigorous approach to comprehensively assessing, maintaining, repairing and improving its 63 miles of roads and sidewalks over the past five years. In 2008, the City adopted the PASER program to evaluate pavement conditions, finding by 2009 that 75% of streets needed work ranging from preventative maintenance to reconstruction. The City is now implementing a multi-year pavement management plan focused on cost-effective preservation. It is also improving sidewalk and ADA accessibility through repairs and an ongoing assessment program. Overall the proactive approach has significantly extended the life of Casselberry's transportation infrastructure.
