Detailed Questionnaire
I) Ownership, Management and Operations:
a. Is the campus owned property?
b. Is the Operations and Management of water related infrastructure in-house or
out-sourced ? Different aspects may be with different players please mention
all (eg: water supply may be inhouse, STP may be outsourced).
II) General Questions about the campus:
a. What is the total capacity of the entire campus ?
b. On average how many people currently use it everyday (including visitors). Is
there a seasonality pattern to this β if so explain ?
c. Does the campus have residential capacity ? Give details.
d. Can a physical site plan of your campus with contours, key drainage features
(eg: storm water drains), captive water sources/storages (water bodies,
borewells, sumps Overhead tanks etc), STP/ETP locations and area details
(roof areas, built-up area, paved, un-paved area etc) be provided ?
e. Is there a swimming pool on campus. What is the water requirement
III) Water use and pre-use treatment:
a. Can a table of different uses of water be made ? Are the volumes of use per
day known ? (eg: Drinking, cooking, washing, flushing wash basins,
gardening, Cooling water for A/C etc)
b. Can the above uses also be broken up by physical points of demand on your
campus site plan ?
c. Is water being used for any manufacturing process in your campus? Does the
water required for these processes have input quality norms? If so what are
they?
d. What are the different pre-use treatment processes that water is subject to?
Please draw up a table of this (eg: Simple pressurized sand filtering or
softening or Reverse Osmosis etc). Let this table also reflect the use the water
is put to after the particular pre-use treatment process.
IV) Water sourcing and supply:
a. What are the different sources of water and their corresponding volumes of
supply in different times of the year ? (eg: BWSSB/KIADB piped supply,
captive bore wells, purchase through tankers, bottled water, recycled STP
water etc)
b. Map each source to end-uses if such a segregation exists / can be made.
c. Can a table of the average cost of water from different sources as incurred be
provided ?
3. d. Can a table of different storages with their storage capacities be provided
(with coding to indicate locations in the site plan submitted for question IId
above).
e. Can a table be provided with the different borewells in the campus, their yield
if available and some remarks for each borewell in terms of the seasonality of
yield if any, or longer term trends of the yield.
f. For each borewell source, has the water quality been tested ? Are tests done
regularly ? Please share representative results.
g. Are or were there any open well sources of water in your campus ? Is open
well water being used for anything ? Has this water been tested β if so please
share representative results.
V) Waste Water generation, treatment and reuse:
a. Can a table of waste water generation with volumes be given (Grey water or
sullage, Black water or sewerage, effluents, RO waste water rejects etc).
b. Can the above table be mapped with current discharge practices (whether it is
treated, what is happening after treatment, where it is discharged).
c. Please provide a table of existing different waste water treatment plants, type
of treatment plant (eg: STP or ETP), technology of treatment, installed plant
capacities and current daily flows in the plants.
d. Specifically point out re-use of treated water in the above table β purpose and
volume of re-use.
e. Have there been regular tests of input waste-water and output waste-water
from the above STP/ETPs. If so please share representative results.
