This document presents a hydrological model for simulating hillslope water budgets and travel time distributions. It develops the equations for a lumped parameter model based on mass balance. Key assumptions include no lateral fluxes, mixing of water within control volumes, and relationships between storage, discharge and evapotranspiration. The model is then expanded to include multiple linear reservoirs to account for spatial variability and phase mixing across a hillslope. Further refinements are proposed to make the evapotranspiration and travel time distributions less simplistic. The overall aim is to implement this modeling framework within an open modeling system.
