2. Situation
A company which is a major manufacturing company in Texas area had a problem of
managing their waste materials and bye-products.
They were looking for a solution where they could
 Track the data regarding the waste materials
 Find out the grounds for disposal
 Apply analytics for important decision making and avoid the manual
intervention in the waste material management process
The Challenge
The greatest challenge in this project was that the client was a quite old manufacturing
company and had lots of bye-products falling in the waste material category. Detecting
each bye-product and segregating the important material and the waste materials was
very difficult.
Another important challenge was the management of the post disposal effects of the
waste materials.
Environment
Solution
Firstly, the system was fed with a database of all possible waste materials of the
company. This helped greatly on the segregation part of the waste materials. Secondly,
sensors and special devices were used to detect waste materials from any location
within the organization.
Then collect all the possible data regarding the waste materials, for creating reports
and dashboards showing
 Proper disposal methods for particular type of material
 Amount of waste materials which has already been disposed
 Amount of waste materials yet to be disposed
 Grounds available for disposal currently
 Time for next disposal of materials

3. Satisfaction
This system was very helpful for the company as all the manual processes were now
automated. The system also gave data with different prospects which helped the
company to manage the waste materials in an efficient and timely manner.
The system also helped in reducing disposal errors by giving exact data about the
waste materials. This in return helped the company to be in compliance with the
industry or the enterprise. Another important outcome of this project was the
creation of waste materials profiles by the company to plan their future disposals in
a better way.
