Protests in Iran last year; protesters we using Twitter to get out information that was then used by the news media A platform for the public to receive meaningful information from trusted sources that can be quickly digested and shared Real-time situational awareness that traditional websites can’t offer – Websites are monologue and social media is dialogue Opportunities for anyone to contribute to the ‘conversation’
  4. Information traveling faster and reaching more people than ever before
  5. In July Facebook reached 500 million users … Now if Facebook were a country, it would be the world's third largest. conversation with Facebook users and focuses on the stream of content posted by the fan page administrator (i.e. a fan page allows fans to become brand advocates)

  7. Very important for programs that offer services the public might not see .. Composting bins stay at the back of a property, valet services for multifamily Helps residents to visualize how participating is a social norm in their neighborhood.
