important place to the U.S.?
• Washington D.C. is important because it is
where our government works. Our
government consists of:
• The Executive Branch
• The Legislative Branch
• The Judicial Branch
What are the main monuments and
memorials in Washington D.C.?
• The Lincoln Memorial is significant because it honors our 16th
president who helped end slavery.
• The Korean War Veterans memorial is also noteworthy
because it is dedicated to the veterans who served in the
Korean war.
• The Jefferson memorial is major because it honors our 3rd
president.
What are some of the important places
and buildings in Washington D.C.?
• The Pentagon is important because it is where our
defense department works (Army, Navy, Marines, Air
Force, ect.).
• Arlington National Cemetery is influential because it
is our countries national cemetery.
• The Tidal Basin is also crucial because it houses the
Jefferson Memorial.
Who were some of the important people in
history involved with Washington D.C.?
• Charles L’Enfant was important because he
was involved with the design of Washington
D.C. before he got fired.
• Andrew Ellicott was also essential because he
took over for L’Enfant.
• James Madison was focal too because he was
the 4th president and helped win the war of
1812.
Why are the Smithsonian Institution’s
museums important?
• They are important because they are the
worlds largest group of museums and art
galleries.
• They also preserve the history of the U.S. and
other areas.
• The Smithsonian's are important because they
are a research organization too.
