This document discusses digital storytelling as a tool to enhance writing and engage elementary students. Digital storytelling is defined as the art of telling stories combined with multimedia, shared and published using digital tools. It can be used across the curriculum to bring context and content to life. Digital storytelling provides a sense-making process for students as they organize information and increase retention of concepts. The document outlines the 7 elements of an effective digital story and provides examples of digital storytelling tools like Storybird and Storyjumper that allow students to creatively write and illustrate stories.
