About this book
In the title, I wanted to use a word of Romani origin. I could have
chosen Shuvani for the witch, but it didn't seem captivating. So I
introduced a word of Romanian gypsy origin that means witch or
witchcraft: Vrăjitoare.
I believe that “Vrăjitoare – Gypsy Magick” became a direct and
appealing title.
In occult circles, Magick is spelled with a "K" to differentiate it from
illusionism.
In the book I present 160 spells and, in addition, it includes signs
(gypsy astrology), prayers, protective amulets and two
oracular/dukkering methods (consulting luck using the dice and a
dagger).
Most spells are 100% gypsy. I didn't pick quantity, but quality.
I could fill dozens of pages with incorrectly gypsy spells (being Afro-
Brazilians from Umbanda with invocation of gypsy spirits), but it
wouldn't be the same. I chose to include 100% gypsy spells with
invocations in Romani, gypsy spells from Ancient Greece, Romania,
Slavia, Russia, and others.
The spells are not repeated from other books of mine. In my books,
I always try to include spells exclusive to each theme and restricted to
the book itself.
So if you buy other books from me, like "Obscure Dimensions and
Magickal Systems", "Vampyros Magicae - Real Vampyre Magick",
"Magickal Formulary - 620 Spells", "Binding and Dominance Spells",
you will find different spells.
I use a pseudonym, Asamod, for being the master of a well-known
esoteric order, which is not very inclined to reveal rites and teachings
to the profane (secular).
Asamod is a variable of Asmodeus, but in Hebrew, Asamod means “to
destroy” and in Persian Azmonden means “to tempt” or “to test”.

I chose the name for the vibration and to symbolize that I intend to
break/destroy old paradigms.
The real predecessor root of the term is Aeshma-daeva, a demon from
Persian mythology in Zoroastrianism, of fury and lust, but who was
sometimes interpreted as "the shining angel"...
Some interpret daēva as "demon", but it is inaccurate, in Hinduism
devas are divine spirits, in Persian mythology not all daēva were
negative.

Introduction
Gypsies have always been people who aroused interest and curiosity,
always linked to mysticism, legends, and divination.
Being a nomadic people, the gypsies circulated all over the world.
Some came from the Northwest of ancient India, others came from
Romania or even Egypt.
They were known as zingars, romas, gitanos, or gypsies. In English,
the term gypsies is plural, it began to be used in the 16th century, in
French, they said gyptien or æguptoi (this was because due to their
dark skin tone, it was said that they would come from Egypt).
In Egypt they are called the "Dom" and it is estimated that about
300,000 live in the territory, including ethnic subgroups such as the
Nawar, Halebi, and Ghagar. The Hungarians called these people
Gypsy. Currently, the term “Romani” or “Rom” is used because it is
believed not to be pejorative; the term means “many”.
Romani (Romanese) is also their language and is believed to be made
up of over 80 dialects.
There are different lineages or clans depending on the region of their
origin.
For example, the Kalé, from Spain and Portugal, the Moldavians from
Central Europe, the Kalderash from Romania and the former
Yugoslavia, the Matchuaya, also from Romania, among others.
The leader of a group is the Barot.
Gypsies used to read fate (the lines on the hand, palmistry) or cards
(cartomancy) as well as make blessings.
The gypsies' own dialect is Romani.

Gypsies do not have an "official" religion; they generally adapt to the
religious ideas of the country in which they live, merging them with
their own beliefs and superstitions. However, they believe that in the
universe there is a positive force (Devel or Dévvel) and a negative
force, Beng.
They have a patron saint (Sara Kali). In the prayers chapter, I put
some prayers.
Gypsy spells are practically identical to popular spells that we know
(both in Portugal and Brazil). As they inspired our culture, it’s obvious
that our people also had popular spells, and sometimes there was an
exchange of influences between the two peoples.
Like Wicca and Druidism, Gypsy magick is closely linked to nature and
the elements (earth, air, water, fire) as well as herbs and their powers
and the moon.
The Romani term for witch is Chuvihani or Shuvani (wise person). The
masculine term for witch is Shuvano, but Kaku is also used.
Gypsies usually wear long hair, as they believe that if they cut their
hair too short, they would lose magnetic power.
In Brazil, in the Umbanda tradition, for example, the gypsy people in
spiritual form also have a presence. There are several entities of the
gypsy people, namely Pombagiras, to which practitioners make
offerings and requests.
Some authors say that gypsy magick only works for good, being white
magic, but it is not quite like that. Such authors are not very
knowledgeable.
I'm from Portugal, I study gypsy magick, and I've been practicing it for
several years. I’ve met gypsies here in Europe, where they
predominate a lot. The curses that gypsies can inflict on someone are
well known, as well as gypsy amorous attachments. A chicken leg left
on someone's doorstep is, for example, a magical warning.

Gypsies believe in life after death and follow all rituals to ease the pain
of their departed ancestors. Like the Egyptians, who also worshiped
their ancestors, the Aakhu.
Gypsies usually put a coin in the coffin of the dead person so that they
can pay the canoeist to cross the great river that separates life from
death.
The Pomána is a funeral feast celebrated every thirty days after a
person's death until one year has passed. In the ceremony, they offer
water, flowers, fruits, and their favorite foods and drinks in abundance,
with the intention of expressing the desire for peace and happiness for
the deceased. They believe that the person's soul takes part in the
ceremony and gradually purges themselves of worldly possessions.
Gypsies often make offerings to their ancestors at the tombs as well.
The gypsies, being mostly nomads, traveled all over the world and
absorbed ritual magic traditions from other cultures, which also
influenced them in sharing knowledge.
So, Gypsy magick has a lot in common with Shamanism, Wicca, Celtic
magick, Egyptian magick, Brazilian spells, and so on.

Lunar phases
I like to repeat in all my books that the lunar phases are important.
Experienced readers know this, but as there may be some beginning
readers, I will repeat this data.
Full moon phase: to attract situations or increase the effect of
something. For abundance, fullness.
Crescent moon phase: for growth, prosperity.
New moon phase: introspection, news, new happenings,
discovery of something that is hidden.
Waning moon phase: to finish something, transition, end of
cycles and situations.
The days of the week are also important and considered, similar to
ritual magick.
On each day of the week, or for each specific purpose, the spirit of
certain ancestral gypsies is invoked.

Gypsy people are superstitious. A person cannot cast spells on some
days considered "bad luck", nor can they cast spells when they are
weak or sick.
A woman should not do spells during her period.
When not to cast spells:
January: days 1, 2, 6, 14, and 27.
February: 1, 17, 19 to 23.
March: 11, 26 to 31.
April: 10, 27, and 28.
May: 8 to 12.
June: 19 to 25.
July: 18 to 21.
August: 2, 26, and 27.
September: 10, 18 to 24.
October: 6.
November: 6 and 17.
December: 5, 13.14 to 23.

Phalanges of spirits and their purposes
Spirit of the gypsy Wladimir. To this group also belong the gypsy Isis,
Carmencita and Gonzalez.
They are invoked to request money, prosperity, business, documents,
and studies.
The colors of the candles or fabric on the altar can be yellow, gold, or
orange.
The proper day is Sunday.
Ritual offerings: melon, breads, cakes, honey, coins, and magnets.
Incense: frankincense, myrrh, cinnamon, cloves.
Crystals: citrine, sunstone, and imperial topaz.
Spirit of the gypsy Artémius. To this group belong the spirit of the
gypsy Boris, Hiago and Ilarim.
They are invoked to obtain clairvoyance, help consult oracles, and ask
for intuition.
The proper day is Monday, linked to the moon.
Colors: use blue or lilac candle.
Incense: lavender, mugwort, sage, and sandalwood.
Crystals: moonstone, cat's eye, amethyst, clear quartz.

Spirit of the gypsy Juan. The gypsy Nazira, Tamirez, and the gypsy
Raphael belong to this group.
They are invoked to ask for energy, physical protection, gain
dynamism, defend against spells or threats.
Day indicated Tuesday, associated with Mars.
Offerings: pepper, breads, wines, daggers.
Color: red.
Incense: sandalwood, cypress.
Crystals: hematite, sardonix, onyx, and tourmaline.
On Wednesday (the day associated with mercury), there is no specific
entity group to invoke. This day is related to communication, travel,
business, and healing (Gypsy Sandro, for example).
Colors: yellow and brown.
Crystals: agates.
Incense: woody and fruity aromas.
Spirit of the gypsy Sandro, the gypsy Leoni, Ramon and Zaira belong
to this group.
They are invoked to obtain mental or physical energy, cures, or to
have more health.
The proper day is Thursday, associated with Jupiter.
Offerings: eggs, breads, cakes, basil, etc.
Color of candles or fabrics: green.

Incense: violet, lavender, rose-white.
Crystals: turquoise, green amethyst, green quartz, white quartz.
Spirit of the gypsies Carmen and Madalena. The gypsy Conchita and
the gypsies Mirro and Ramur belong to this group.
They are invoked for love, to increase passion, to fight jealousy or
infidelity, etc. Matters more related to sex are worked out with
Madalena.
Day for ritual is Friday, associated with Venus.
Colors: pink and red.
Incense: red roses, jasmine, apple.
Crystals: magnetite, rose quartz, rose tourmaline, garnet.
Saturday (Saturn's day), a day linked to protection, liberation, and the
breaking of addictions. In gypsy magick there is no specific spirit. If
goals are needed for the issues listed above, work with spirits for
protection (Juan, for example).
Colors: black and red
Crystals: onyx, obsidian, and black tourmaline.
Incense: rue, frankincense, and cypress.

You can also invoke the spirit of Manolo and Pedrowic, for justice
issues or behavioral adjustments.

Magick tools
The gypsy people have their own way of working. Their magick is
done through dance, and spices, similar to shamanism.
They use various instruments for spiritual cleansing, including:
Fan: symbolizes the air element, assists in the energy cleaning of the
consultant, the medium, or the environment. Sometimes it is fanned to
create a protective barrier.
Castanets: come a lot from the Hispanic tradition. They are used to
evoking or expel spirits. They also serve as protection. They can be
used for energetic cleansing during rituals or sessions. They are
usually worn around the waist.
Tambourine: represents joy, strength, and movement. It can be
decorated with bells and ribbons at the ends. It cleans and purifies
consultants and the environment.
Cigarette/ cigarillo: used to clean and discharge the environment,
similar to candomblé, shamanism, juremeiros.
Powder: used for different purposes. When made for cleaning, they
are blown in the corners of the environment, or onto the back or back
of the consultant's neck.
Incense: for ritual offerings or to purify the environment and the
querent.

Magick wand: as in other magickal systems, some gypsies also use
the wand (kosh), used in ritual spells to direct energy, and also
sometimes used to feel energies and objects (as in dowsing).
The wand is made with straight wooden branches, handcrafted by the
sorceress herself, and some put crystals in the wand. They can
consecrate it, for example, in the moonlight or by passing through the
water of a stream and saying:
“Katar rook, katar puv, Katar Mamus, Akai sor mi ruzlapen”
Which means:
“From the tree, from the earth, from the Mother, all my strength comes
from them”.
Knife: Gypsies always use a pocketknife, dagger, and other types of
knives. They can be used for defense, cutting and carving branches,
cutting herbs, etc. Sometimes they take the old blade of a kitchen
knife and reuse it, putting it back on a new wooden handle (carved by
them) and reusing that “choori” or “churia” knife. It can be used to
harvest magical herbs, during a certain lunar phase or simple herbs to
make tea.

Gypsy altar
You can prepare an altar to your liking, including elements of the
gypsy tradition.
The tablecloth can be white, and you can place two candlesticks, a
pentagram (which can be fixed on the wall) or the carriage wheel.
Place a vase with flowers, a gypsy dagger, candlesticks, and a
statuette of Saint Sara Kali. A censer.
Also have a small bowl with water. The 4 elements will be represented
on the altar.
The bowl represents the water element, the candles represent the
earth element (the candle body), and the flame represents fire. The
incense represents fire (combustion) and air (its smoke), etc.
You can also place some crystals on the altar; they represent the earth
element and catalyze energies.
Incense is frequently used in gypsy magick: sandalwood, jasmine, lily,
lady-of-the-night, rosemary, benzoin, eucalyptus.
You can place other adornments on the altar, such as; a fan, a deck of
cards, a scarf, a small chest, something that reminds you of the gypsy
egrégore.
In gypsy magick, it is usual to place offerings to Santa Sara Kali on the
altar, such as: bread, fruits, a chalice with wine, and another chalice
with water.
Fruits can be grapes or apples. Also, place flowers in the vase.

The altar is something personal, so customize it to your liking.
A prayer you can say:
“Ocanar ke animas gitanas ke abelar llegar with thie redano zibó, thie
at bar lachi y dukata. Dabadar pielo die di hoy, pielo ocasión, pielo Sol
but fachó ke shanatu pielo dives but fachó ke lá noche,
kereve zibó before fetiches and shuvanisji, per arati del Murro Dahd,
currelar murri ke postulación e ke y Vourdakie Rromá, alar dron di
dijibe camepé planorrí and furunar thie ac devaslesa, thie o devel”.
Meaning:
"I ask the gypsy souls who are present to come with all their positive
strength to help us,
I ask for today, for the hours that are, for the sun brighter than the
moon, for the day brighter than the night, to protect us of evil and
sorcery,
by the blood of Jesus, answer my requests and that the Gypsy Wheel,
be turned to the feelings of fraternal love and union, may Devel be
with us, Amen".
