EuroVersity is a 3-year network of 19 core partners across 10 EU countries and 1 partner in Israel. It aims to collect examples of good practice in teaching and learning in virtual worlds, facilitate transferring this knowledge to new contexts, and establish standards for virtual world education. EuroVersity seeks to contribute to innovation and quality in education by sharing knowledge and resources through its online spaces like a website, wiki, and virtual worlds like Second Life.

ClipFlair is a web platform for foreign language learning through interactive video captioning and dubbing activities. It aims to engage learners more actively compared to just watching videos. The platform has tools for creating activities that involve learners dubbing voiceovers, adding subtitles, or commenting on video clips. It also has social networking features for collaboration. The project involves 10 partners across 8 countries developing over 300 activities targeting 15 languages. It seeks to provide new educational tools and make materials for lesser taught languages more accessible online.

The document discusses evaluating the quality of open digital resources using the ACTIONS model. It summarizes the history of open education and applies the ACTIONS criteria to four models of innovative open education: MOOCs, OERs, open universities, and online credit programs. MOOCs scored highest in access and novelty but lowest in teaching and interaction. Open universities scored well overall while online credit programs scored highest in teaching and interaction. No single model is best and more innovation is still needed to improve open education quality.
Massive Open Online Courses as a Tool for International University Marketing ...
1) The MOOC@TU9 project involved a joint MOOC produced by 9 leading technical universities in Germany (TU9) to promote engineering degrees and attract international students.
2) The inaugural MOOC on "German Engineering" had over 1,300 participants from over 80 countries. It consisted of 9 weekly lectures delivered live by professors from the TU9 universities.
3) While the MOOC was helpful for study orientation, its dual focus on teaching and marketing weakened its course character. Going forward, the TU9 universities will produce more specialized engineering MOOCs and separate the guidance and marketing components.
Context and benefits of VMPass initiative at KU Leuven

Opal case study 48 gitta switzerland
GITTA is a collaborative initiative between 10 Swiss academic institutions that developed open educational content in geoinformatics between 2001-2008. The goals were to pool Swiss knowledge in this field into a shared learning pool, replace lectures with hybrid teaching, and integrate the content into university curricula. Over 40 lessons were created at basic and intermediate levels, along with case studies. The content was made publicly available in 2006 under an open license to benefit all partners. The project utilized XML and the eLML framework to implement the didactic concept and make the content technically accessible.

Why is developing a new mine so difficult? - Oct 2013 - John P. Sykes - Centr...
Globally there are problems in bringing new mine capacity on stream. With little new ‘greenfields’ exploration taking place at this time, the pipeline of high-quality mine projects is not being replenished. The problem for the mining industry is that minerals exploration takes place over long timescales, however, “success” is judged along much shorter timescales. Addressing this paradox is a challenge for all in minerals exploration management. This study has sought to address this topic by building on the author’s tacit knowledge, gained through experience in the mining industry, combined with a review of the business management and strategy literature. Emergent from this research are multiple ways for examining mining industry problems and a new approach to developing high-level strategies for facilitating minerals exploration.

Globally there are problems in bringing new mine capacity on stream. With little new ‘greenfields’ exploration taking place at this time, the pipeline of high-quality mine projects is not being replenished. The problem for the mining industry is that minerals exploration takes place over long timescales, however, “success” is judged along much shorter timescales. Addressing this paradox is a challenge for all in minerals exploration management. This study has sought to address this topic by building on the author’s tacit knowledge, gained through experience in the mining industry, combined with a review of the business management and strategy literature. Emergent from this research are multiple ways for examining mining industry problems and a new approach to developing high-level strategies for facilitating minerals exploration.

Opening up Virtual Mobility: a study of skills and competences

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
