Individualism	Individualism states that everyone looks after themselves. Freedom, rights and independent action for everyone.An example of individualism is the availability of scholarships. Competition	Two or more groups or individuals that both want a scarce resource and compete to get it.Example: Two oil companies want the oil found in the Arctic. Freedom (political /economic)	Democracy is based on this idea. People are free to do what they want as long as they do not break the law.Canada’s government is a democracy. Collective Responsibility	There are two meanings to collective responsibility. The first is that everyone is to some degree responsible for one another and we all make sacrifices for the benefit of all.
