This document discusses setting up an online platform for synchronous writing consultations. It would provide an option for students taking online degrees or those who cannot visit a physical writing center. The platform would use video/audio chat, text chat, and a whiteboard. It requires reliable internet, browsers, webcams, and consultants trained to use the technology. Synchronous online sessions could mimic face-to-face consultations by maintaining student ownership of writing and peer relationships through collaborative discussion and immediate feedback.
