Joseph Shapiro in this book champions for the right of the disabled and the difficulties they go through as they fight for their civil rights which incorporates the American Disability Act (ADA) (Shapiro, 2011). Similarly, the author considers people with disability as a minority group struggling to get a new civil right movement just like similar minority groups such as women and Africa Americans who were awarded for their long fight to freedom and equality. Therefore, Shapiro digs deeper into the problems affecting the disabled and how these people are trying to air these issues with at times zero results on their significant efforts. Hence, this paper will explore and provide an analysis of the first chapter of the book and look into critical issues that affected these people.
Chapter 1- Tiny Tims, Supercrips, and the End of Pity
The first chapter explores the struggles of the people with disability. The author points out that these people are oppressed and they are aware that they are undermined by people. Furthermore, the chapter starts off by criticizing the use of telethons and the handicapped to source for funds as a way of playing pity (Shapiro, 2011). These make these people feel different and far away from the normal society which is a source of their problem. By collecting money to support these individuals, the community tries to make them feel like they are outcasts and they need total help and they are incapable of providing for themselves. This limits their potential and makes these people feel bad about their condition. Therefore, an attempt by society to tell these people that they are special actually worsens their situation. Besides, the fundraising strategy is a backward way of thinking where these organizations want to raise money by making people feel guilty or worry about their condition. It is a manipulative way of doing things and Shapiro considers this as wrong and these disabled people should be subjected to such kind of torture.
The chapter also classifies the bad people in comics, films, and television as "differences". These people are aware of the bad people and the use of "difference" shows that they have some unique bad trait that makes them inflict pain and cause havoc to society. The word "differences" reflects the bad character of these people. This means that the people with disability could identify these individuals and the society who have contributed to them being undermined and considered less fortunate in the community. The coronavirus seeks only to replicate. We seek to halt that replication. Unlike the virus, humans make
choices. This pandemic will pass into history. But the way in which it passes will shape the world it leaves
behind. It is the first such pandemic for a century. And it comes to a world that — unlike in 1918, when
the Spanish flu hit — has been at peace and enjoys unprecedented wealth. We should be able to
manage it well. If we do not do so, this will be a turning point for the worse. Making the right decisions
requires that we understand the options and their moral implications. We now confront two
fundamental sets of choices: within our countries and across borders. In high-income countries, the
biggest choice is how aggressively to halt transmission of the virus. But we also need to decide who will
bear the costs of that choice and how. Some continue to argue that it is wrong to force the economy
into a depression to suppress transmission of the virus. This, they suggest, will cause unnecessary
disruption. If, instead, the virus is left to spread relatively freely, we can achieve “herd immunity”,
sustain the economy and still focus resources on the vulnerable. Yet it is not clear that the economy
would fare better under this relatively laissez faire “mitigation” policy than under one of determined
“suppression”. Long before government-imposed lockdowns, many people stopped travelling or going
to restaurants, cinemas or shops. Decisive action to suppress the virus and follow up with testing and
tracking of new infections could well end the inevitable economic slump even sooner than otherwise.
What seems quite certain is the global health system would fare much better under suppression than
mitigation. Under the latter, argues the Imperial College Covid-19 Response Team, the health systems of
the UK and US would be overwhelmed: large numbers of predominantly old people would be left to die
untreated. It was presumably to prevent this from happening across China that the government
suppressed the virus so fiercely in Hubei. Could a health calamity that is unacceptable in China be
acceptable in the UK or US? Yet the critics are also right: it will be impossible to close large parts of our
economies for very long. If suppression is to be tried, it must be successful quickly and resurgence of the
virus must be throttled. Meanwhile, central banks and governments must seek to keep as much of the
economy going as possible, preserve as much productive capacity intact as possible and ensure that the
people, above all the vulnerable, are generously protected in whatever way a country finds practical.
The solidarity between countries needs to be as strong as within them. The financial instability and

The coronavirus seeks only to replicate. We seek to halt that replication. Unlike the virus, humans make
choices. This pandemic will pass into history. But the way in which it passes will shape the world it leaves
behind. It is the first such pandemic for a century. And it comes to a world that — unlike in 1918, when
the Spanish flu hit — has been at peace and enjoys unprecedented wealth. We should be able to
manage it well. If we do not do so, this will be a turning point for the worse. Making the right decisions
requires that we understand the options and their moral implications. We now confront two
fundamental sets of choices: within our countries and across borders. In high-income countries, the
biggest choice is how aggressively to halt transmission of the virus. But we also need to decide who will
bear the costs of that choice and how. Some continue to argue that it is wrong to force the economy
into a depression to suppress transmission of the virus. This, they suggest, will cause unnecessary
disruption. If, instead, the virus is left to spread relatively freely, we can achieve “herd immunity”,
sustain the economy and still focus resources on the vulnerable. Yet it is not clear that the economy
would fare better under this relatively laissez faire “mitigation” policy than under one of determined
“suppression”. Long before government-imposed lockdowns, many people stopped travelling or going
to restaurants, cinemas or shops. Decisive action to suppress the virus and follow up with testing and
tracking of new infections could well end the inevitable economic slump even sooner than otherwise.
What seems quite certain is the global health system would fare much better under suppression than
mitigation. Under the latter, argues the Imperial College Covid-19 Response Team, the health systems of
the UK and US would be overwhelmed: large numbers of predominantly old people would be left to die
untreated. It was presumably to prevent this from happening across China that the government
suppressed the virus so fiercely in Hubei. Could a health calamity that is unacceptable in China be
acceptable in the UK or US? Yet the critics are also right: it will be impossible to close large parts of our
economies for very long. If suppression is to be tried, it must be successful quickly and resurgence of the
virus must be throttled. Meanwhile, central banks and governments must seek to keep as much of the
economy going as possible, preserve as much productive capacity intact as possible and ensure that the
people, above all the vulnerable, are generously protected in whatever way a country finds practical.
The solidarity between countries needs to be as strong as within them. The financial instability and
looming recession (probably depression) we see coming will inflict huge harm on emerging and

Abstract
The authenticity of human resource
information has become an important factor that
affects the cost and efficiency of human resource
management. With the rapid development of
mobile devices and Internet technology, various
human resource risks caused by information
asymmetry constantly bring economic loss, and
even a fatal blow, to enterprises. Based on
Blockchain(BC), this paper aims to combine
traditional encryption technology with Internet-
distributed technology, to establish a human
resource information management model that
reduces the risk of authenticity of human resource
information. This model aims to solve the lack of
discrimination of the authenticity of human
resource information, and to provide authentic and
effective decision support information to the
human resource management of an organization.
The operation method, such as Bitcoin, is used to
certify the human resource documentations, as
well as to bind the information and the
documentation. Furthermore, human resource
information is recorded in an accounting book
based on BC technology; thus, modifying and
validating may be difficult in the entire net work.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 1. View this week's media, Parker (Episode 30). Think of the many names and labels you may have heard to describe persons with disabilities and those that are currently socially acceptable. The changing monikers given to those with disabilities are evidence of the continual negotiation of the society who labels and those who are so labeled to define what disability is and who is disabled. What do these shifting labels suggest about the social construction of disability? Society is inconsistent in its treatment and protection of the rights of individuals with disabilities, creating a situation that contributes to marginalization that can complicate other forms of marginalization and oppression. Consider that being labeled with a disability can be simultaneously something to be fought against because of the stigma it entails and fought for because of the access that it grants to social services that meet basic medical needs, aid economic survival, and improve access to education that society can otherwise deny. By Day 5 Post an analysis of the implications of the social construction of disability. Describe how disability can be defined as a social construct. Explain how that relates to the perception of disability. Be specific and draw on examples from the Parker case to illustrate your thoughts. Also, describe the intersection of Stephanie's mental illness with other characteristics of her identity. Explain how those intersections could serve to further marginalize Stephanie's place and experiences in society.
- 2. Finally, explain how such marginalization impacts her ability to make choices, use self-determination, and be an active agent with equitable status in her interactions with other professionals.
