The Vietnam War occurred between 1954 and 1975 between North and South Vietnam in grasslands and plains. It started as an effort by the US under President Eisenhower to prevent the spread of communism. Major battles included Hamburger Hill, Dak To, and Ho Bo Woods. The war ended as the US withdrew funding, leaving Vietnam without ammunition or medical supplies. Over 58,000 US soldiers and 400,000 Vietnamese died during the war or from exposure to Agent Orange herbicides.
